25-06 RL 23

I still looking for a decent starting recipe for my 25-06 with 100 gr. Barnes or Federal Trophy bullets . I've tried H4350 and Staball 6.5 so far with both bullets . The H4350 and the Federal has been the best so far but not great. I have an unopened RL 23 I'm thinking on trying but can't find a copper bullet starting point. Any suggestions from anyone?

If I had it I'd try it but don't have it. I'm trying to work up with what I have before buying another bunch of powders.

This is from the Alliant website. I'd start with the NBT load and back off by 10%:



Hammer lists RL23 in the 100gr. range but Barnes load data and Hammer load data is not exactly apples to apples, given the Hammer's lower bearing surface:

Yeah, that would put you around 92% as a starting load. I'd work up in one-grain increments to 55 or to where you hit pressure.

Still have those TTSXs/TSXs if you need them.

I have some IMR 4831 that's probably 10 years old still in a sealed metal can. That was going to be my last choice before trying something new.

That can of powder might be worth more than the rifle. I gave up on RL-23 a couple of years ago.
