Is it just me or are the mats really small? If you a wrestler can score with one toe in bounds they should not run into a table or onto the other mat while one wrestler is still in bounds.

Kasak’s win in the blood round gives Psu 10 All Americans. Only the 2nd time that has happened. The other time was Minnesota. No respect for my Alma mater, @Gellar. About what I’d expect from a Hawk!
I kid, buddy.
Today’s round was brutal. Lilledahl, Kasak…heart breaks for Kasak in particular after last year. There are some absolutely incredible matches tonight. Looking forward to it.
We Are Penn State!
I was thinking 2003. I know it was in Iowa City. Minnesota had 0 finalists, Garrett Lowney got 3rd as a heavyweight after medaling at the Olympics in Greco the previous summer. I was there.Ya, I remember that. 2001, right?
I just googled it. 2001, you were right.Ya, I remember that. 2001, right?
Yeah, I only remember because I was a senior in high school that year. HahaI just googled it. 2001, you were right.
I would have been a sophomore.Yeah, I only remember because I was a senior in high school that year. Haha
Payed off at Heavy Weight too.Having Taylor as a coach payed off.
149 Stiles vs Van Ness. One man left standing for my Beavers, but he'll be in the top six. I see his next match is against a PSU wrestler, and I remember the general idea of that dual meet a couple months ago.
He needs it. His lack of stiff competition and quality practice partners showed up and the Finals. Hopefully he was humbled a bit at the finals, he needs that most of all.I couldn’t help but notice AJ Ferrari make it a point to shake the Iowa coaches hands after the match. I have a feeling there will be more than one Ferrari in the Iowa lineup next year.
I saw that last night as well. The Iowa boards are all up in arms about it!In other news of the slightly more intriguing variety, the rumor mill is at full speed with news that Ono may be enrolled at PSU and planning to compete for them next year. I think there is some debate over what his name being in the student directory means, definitively, I.e. some say you need it to have access to the facilities to train, whereas others indicate he is listed as a student with an email address etc. Would be very interesting, to say the least…
Yeah, I’ve been hearing he would go at 133. It’s a fascinating turn of events, for sure, because Japan already kind of has our number lately, so it’s not like there is an obvious expectation that coming here would make him a better freestyle wrestler. Perhaps he just wants to prove to himself he can do the folk style thing, or add some new accomplishments to his resume. But you’re right, it’s not the easiest transition.I saw that last night as well. The Iowa boards are all up in arms about it!if you want a good laugh just go on their forums. Some of those posters take the award for dumbest sports fans ever.
There probably hasn’t been one the quality of Ono but the experiment of taking lifelong freestylers and transitioning them into folk style in college has not been overly successful. It will be interesting to see what weight he goes. I can’t see him at 125. 133 on an hour weigh in will be tough. Usually international weigh in is the day before.
I hope he succeeds. It’s crazy to say this but He doesn’t really have a spot in Japan with the hammers they have at 57 Kg and 65 kg. Will he seek U.S. citizenship?
