Well @JohnCushman survived yet another year at "The Redman Home for Wayward Souls"!
He arrived from New York last Friday after spending time with family and trying to rid the state of it's deer.
Saturday found us in a ground blind with ye ol smoke pole.

Our second snow of the year had me feeling good for success.

No animals were harmed that morning. It was a cold one so we headed to the house for some lunch. After getting our bellies full we headed back out. The temperature came up but the wind was brutal. The wind was all wrong for the blind we hunted out of that morning so I had another blind set up close by where the wind would be in our favor.
Again high hopes....

Cush must have slipped me something...next thing I know I am being woke up by a sharp pain in my butt!! Huhhh I never dozen off while sleeping...cheap blind chairs!

Finally some deer 7 or 8 across the creek and in the field. Shot would be tough due to all of the brush. We crossed our fingers and hoped they would venture our way.

Well shooting light ended and back to the house for Casey's famous lasagna!

Next morning was warm raining and temps rising. We went to church and listened to Casey sing in the choir. After church we heated up lunch and back to the woods.

Hen turkey roasted above us. Watched all sorts of critters. No deer until last light. Kick myself because I knew this was Cush's last chance and pondered earlier about doing a drive for him. I just held out hope that a deer would venture past the blind. Nope they stayed out at the field edge.

Monday was back to work for me Cush and Casy dined at the fine establishment known as White Castle. After work we all went to a town 15 miles away and ate at Treeces Bar.
Tuesday came to fast and I had to be at work earlier than usual. Cush headed home but told me he would stop in at my work and say good bye. Got a call to meet him....that is a story he can tell. He followed me back to Lafayette where I assisted him with "way points" navigating him to the quicks route home.
Gone be quiet around here now!

No deer were harmed in the making of my visit. I did epically bury my truck to the frame on the side of the road mud while trying to turn around at a set of rail road tracks that stood still for over half an hour.
HAAA! I let you tell on yourself. Hey at least you didn't roll it down the hill.
