2024 College Football 🏈 Season starts tomorrow…. Yee Yee

Other than Penn State not holding their end of the bargain up, this post aged well

Great day to be a Buckeye fan!!

Can't wait until they change the playoff format again to see OSU win it all again!

I agree Ohio State won, and you should be happy. Big10 being way better … not proven.

Reality is the Texas-Ohio State game was close to the end. Texas lost to Georgia twice.

Beck got his pulley bone stretched in the conference c'ship w/The Texas University...wasn't the same Georgia after. Lotsa SEC envy clouding the chorus of this thread

Arch is coming fellas.... :)

Did you bother to watch Ohio St vs Tennessee and Ohio St vs Oregon? The Tennessee game was a home game for Ohio St. But then, maybe you didn’t watch the Ohio St vs Texas game either.

How is that pretty clear? Feel free to pretend though.

Had the seedings been a bit different, we might have seen who was a lot better, but that didn’t happen. We are left with opinions.
Pretending would be thinking that Tenn stood a chance. 3 straight touchdown drives to start the game should have been plenty of visual evidence. Maybe Will Howard throwing 5 incompletions against them had... nothing to do with their QB being out?

The SEC was the second best conference by a mile. "Bless your heart"

@jimh406 you are the excuse and what if master and kind of impossible to follow along with. Need a spread sheet for your excuses and what ifs...

100% should be on one of those talking heads shows. You would be good at it. I can see you battling Stephen A.

And deletion of conference title games
I’d let the conferences decide how to handle conference titles. Not all conferences will have teams in the playoffs. There’s potential for some playoff ranking movement based on two strong teams playing. It’d add some excitement, and criticism, to the playoffs.

I think so too, It is the most iconic college stadium in the country. The game is meant to be played outside and on grass.

And deletion of conference title games
Just redo the whole dang thing.

Big10 becomes the Northern Conference and SEC becomes the Southern Conference. Extend the Mason Dixon line west just under Oregon. Sorry USC and UCLA, you belong in the South. Take the top 6 or 8 teams from each conference.

Only thing that matters IMO is keeping rivalry games (i.e. OSU vs. TTUN), somehow rotate scheduling so we get to see OSU, TTUN etc. playing Texas, Alabama, Georgia etc. in more games in regular season so I don't have to listen to @jimh406 and all his excuses and what if scenarios.

I think it's a difficult egg to crack because who knows who is going to be the powerhouses in 10, 20 years etc.

Did you forget that the halftime score of Ohio State over Oregon was even larger at the Rose Bowl? Home field advantage in the SEC is huge. Vol fans wouldn't have sold their tickets to Ohio State.

I love the big 10 but it's delusional to say were going to always be on top. We were 1 play away from losing to Texas. Imagine next year when they have Arch Manning at QB and what if their star receiver (#2) was healthy the duration of the playoff game. I think the outcome could have been different. They have a good thing going. Solid coaching and good recruits; I think they'll be a contender next year.

Day is a hell of a coach despite his record to the TTUN. I still find myself scratching my head a lot of games. They have the best roster (coaches, players) money can buy and we still find a way to lose or make games closer than they should be (TTUN, Oregon game 1, Texas, ND).

Michigan, Alabama lost their coaches and went hero to zero in one year. What happened to Clemson? Georga lost their QB and can't win big games. Things change fast in college football. All comes down to coaches, recruiting, strength of schedule, injuries, and making a run at the end.

6 playoff appearances, 2 championships during the playoff era for Ohio State (ten years between them!). It's hard to win championships and I'm not delusional, it could be a while till the next one. That was a hell of a run against some solid teams. Great year to be a buckeye fan!

What are y'alls thoughts on the National Championship game permanently at the Rose Bowl
Only the Big10 and Pac cared much about that venue because they were the only teams that played the Rose Bowl for a very long time. Now it's just the Big10 that regularly played there.

The problem with not rotating the location is some fans have to pay a lot more money to travel and only one community gets to reap the benefits of 100K+ fans spending money in an area.

What is the deal with a fan base claiming their conference is the best? Odd to me. mtmuley
Well, there were a lot of years since BCS that SEC was dominant with Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, and Alabama all wining NCs. No other conference is close over the past 25 years.

So naturally, the Big10 fans want to say their conference is now that dominant conference. The reality is NIL and the Transfer portal has ushered in parity. There are good teams in all conferences now.

The Big10 might be the next dominant conference, but I expect it's going to take a few years to find out and balance out.

I guess I just wouldn't care. If my specific team wins, awesome. The rest of the conference has no interest to me. mtmuley

If you watched your team/conference get beat with loud chants of SEC, SEC, SEC, you might have a different opinion. It was really obnoxious. ;)
