Nothing.What did Joe do?
So, a guy, let's call him Steve, is a general manager of a discount store in town. He finds out his night manager is raping young boys in the back room and this goes on for years. Steve never inquires as to the safety or well being of the boys, never demands the night manager stop, never fires the night manager, never raises it with regional management, never calls child services, never calls the cops. And why doesn't he do these things? It would tarnish his 5 general manager of the year awards for best local store he is so proud of. So, on what planet do we think Steve did the right thing, is a stand up guy, is a real leader, is admirable and is not lucky not to go to prison? What did Joe do?
Thanks for elaborating what " nothing" meant. So, a guy, let's call him Steve, is a general manager of a discount store in town. Good for Penn State. There is a dark stain that will always be associated with Penn State, a terrible set of acts committed by a predator named Sanduskey. The school and program have used that to turn tragedy to action, funding one of the largest child abuse organizations in the country as well as Thon, the largest student run philanthropic fund raiser in the world battling childhood cancer.
A gaggle of lawyers and Louis Freeh spent years and millions of dollars to pin those acts on Paterno. Joe will always be judged for stopping one call short of calling the authorities himself, but to suggest he covered up for Sanduskey or allowed those heinous acts to be perpetrated is purposterous.
No one can know what is in the hearts of others, I'm sure we all know someone with a dark soul that we aren't aware of and can blend in like normal adults, while harboring dark secrets.
I'm not doing any moral gymnastics, the day Joe found out, Sanduskey was barred from entering the PSU facilities and Shultz and Curly were notified. I still find fault with Paterno for not going to the next step and reporting to the police himself once others failed to act.Good for Penn State.
As for Joe, "stopping one call short", the word "stopping" suggests that the person was acting in some helpful manner to stop the conduct but just came up short - zero evidence he did anything but cover up.
As for, "years and millions", that was because those wrapped in the cult of Joe'Pa maintained silence, cover and lies to the bitter end. But no matter what it took to find the truth - in the end it is truth none the less.
I would guess no one on this forum had a deep personal relationship with Joe, or Bobby Knight for that matter, I will never understand why folks do moral gymnastics to "protect" someone they didn't know and who didn't know you are alive. It's like all those ridiculous tears shed for Lady Diana back in the day. (not saying Diana did something wrong, just saying folks were way to caught up in someone they didn't know)
NevermindTexas vs Clemson is getting closer.
I wonder if the dozen young boys raped by Sandusky after Joe'Pa found out in 1998 were so quick to "carry on"? But I guess our childish infatuation with sports "heroes" must be preserved over the well being of actual children.I'm not doing any moral gymnastics, the day Joe found out, Sanduskey was barred from entering the PSU facilities and Shultz and Curly were notified. I get that the heinous nature of Sanduskey's actions cause a strong reaction, as they should, but much of it gets transferred to another easy target. Read the Freeh report, you're a lawyer you guys love writing a bunch of gibberish that boils down to very little.
I've said my peace, I'm done.
Carry on. I'm going to watch some more football.
Your a fuvking idiotI wonder if the dozen young boys raped by Sandusky after Joe'Pa found out in 1998 were so quick to "carry on"? But I guess our childish infatuation with sports "heroes" must be preserved over the well being of actual children.
An idiot who feels no need to defend pedophiles or those who protect them . . . I'll take that as a compliment from those who do.Your a fuvking idiot
