2023 Wyoming Unit 5 Sheep tag

This is the last post to wrap up. When I started to have an interest in sheep hunting the cost was so prohibitive I felt like 4 of any sheep should be celebrated. I cam up with the term “Poormanslam”. Certainly a tongue in cheek because even 20 years ago 4 sheep cost a pretty penny. Now even worse. So this is my Poormanslam. I took 2 with a .240 weatherby and two with a .270 Winchester and only one at a range over 250 yards.

I figure the 4 cost me; 2005 Idaho Rocky $2500, 2006 Alaska Dall $12,500, 2011 Yukon Fannin $21,500 and 2023 Wy Rocky $6000 for a total of $41,500. I think now only a Dall can be had for that price. I feel very fortunate.

Well poorman,
You have been fortunate, but you are also sheep rich compared to 99% of all hunters. Only the Desert stands in your way of a legit slam.
I am also fortunate and sheep rich, but only because I live in a state I could draw my desert and Wyoming was also kind to me with a Rocky tag as well.
I hope you are still applying in states for deserts because you just never know when lady luck will put a grin on your face.
Regardless your poorman's slam makes you rich indeed.
Well done sir.

You are very fortunate and you should go after your desert! Congratulations on your sheep luck and success. I hope to be in your shoes one day. Dall sheep prices in Alaska are close to that amount and well over the in Canada.
