Bears are hard to judge for most people. Is it just me or do 97% of the black bears killed by hunters look like dinks.
AgreedBears are hard to judge for most people.
Wouldn’t know. Definitely never experienced ground shrinkage with a bear. Nope. Not me. Never shot a dink, nothing but pumpkin headed beasts for me!I bet the most common thing said by bear hunters upon walk up is “huh, it looked a lot bigger”
Bet they didn't say that about the pike.....I bet the most common thing said by bear hunters upon walk up is “huh, it looked a lot bigger”
New bear hunters please read that three times.Everybody that’s hunted bears gets dinked or “sowed”. It happens. Gotta be able to walk away from most bears or it will happen more often than not.
That's Bullcrap! Where I live in Idaho every bear missed is 100% north of 350 pounds. Most, not all ,that are actually killed are at least a 300 pounds! It's an unwritten rule around here bears start at about 300. I have helped recover more than a few and they must dehydrate or something because they usually weigh about 125 upon pack out. Its really quite handy that they shrink. Any bear pictures posted to social media is also always over 300 but a high percentage fall in the 4-500 pound categoryThat and also a small % in the Rocky Mountain west are truly big.
I read it 6 times and I bet I'll still eff it up anyways.....New bear hunters please read that three times.
