I drew a 213 Late ram desert sheep tag here in Nevada. This unit, for whatever reason has intrigued me for about the last decade, and I have made trips there, even before drawing a tag. It has been in my apps every year, or nearly every year since about 2010 or so.
I drew this year with 16 points and had the late season as my first choice due to the more appropriate season dates for my schedule.
My daughter hunted the unit in 2019 for ewe, and she was successful on opening day.
This weekend, we left Wednesday and arrived at.camp at about 3 in the afternoon.
We scouted that evening, Thursday and Friday and returned home yesterday.
In all, we located 65 sheep, 25 of those were rams not with ewes and lambs.
We spotted sheep at distances up to two miles away.
The first two photos are of my 3 favorites. (2 lower rams in the group of 4 up close)
The largest ram ever killed in this unit is 159, and this herd is one of the remnants of central Nevada which was never extirpated.
There are a lot of sheep in the unit, and it is quite dry and desolate.
