No luck so far today, went and got fire wood for the next couple of days. Wife and son driving up right now. Should be more fun and less hunting unfortunately. I’ll keep you all posted on tonight’s hunt.

Called Robert Woody in Summerville, OR. Guy that owns the 10k acres with 200 head of elk on it. He claims it’s not fair he has to wait till Oct 15 to hunt..... Cry me a river. Not a nice gentleman, wouldn’t let a kid hunt even with her cripple veteran dad LoL . Oh well rant over. We’re going to go check out some access yes and BLM ground.

I could have told you that before you asked. Those guys up there are not about letting anyone on their property to hunt. I've heard about that Woods guy.

Saturday morning we did a 4.5 mile walk up a closed road than cut across to another drainage with a closed road and went down that back to the wheeler. She was a trooper, no elk spotted. We did however spotted 2 deer and came across a fresh set of elk tracks, looked like a cow and calf had crossed the trail not too long before us. Got back to the wheeler and my heel was not doing to well, a bit to far. I believe I can do 2-3 miles and be ok.
All in all it was a fantastic trip! Got to spend quality time hunting with my daughter. Couple keys to the good time. We got to see elk almost everyday”on private” still it was fun for her to see and hear them bugling like crazy. Had those 4 or 5 bulls going 2 mornings in a row. Kept her nice and warm, also let her drive the 4 wheeler almost the entire hunt. Takes longer to get places but I was ok with that. Slept in a warm camper. Had a campfire every night. I think it turned out pretty good and successful even though she did not harvest an Elk. We may go out for one or two more days toward the end of the season, it ends on October 14. My wife and son came up and we had a great time on Saturday afternoon getting firewood and making s’mores. We came home yesterday afternoon after we slept in. Now it’s back to school and cleaning up all of our hunting stuff and camper for the next adventure.

No fresh sign, a lot of ATVs around for deer opening weekend, and a full moon, a lot going against us, but like someone said it’s quality time! Nap time right now

We are in SW Idaho

Done, had to come home for my sons B day party! Hopefully another hunter in the making. We will see next year, he gets to take hunter safety this fall/spring.
