2014 Hunt resolution!

Primary goal: Call in a big WY elk for my 73 year old father.
Secondary goal: This spring, call in a tom turkey for my 13 year old daughter.
Tertiary: Draw one longshot tag. in NV, UT, AZ.
Quaternary: Shoot a bear, and hunt bear more.

2014

Figure out how to get myself out west for a hunt in the mountains, which I've never done.
Use trip as motivation to get in better shape and drop some pounds..
And to enjoy the time there as much as possible no matter the result

Soooo... what'cha got on the '14 hunt docket ~ resolution wise?

Rugged mtn fresh exercise? Whiskey instead of that nasty rum? Kicking that slacker of a hunt pard'ner to the curb? Changing that caliber? Getting that camper for those creekin bones? Going to horse pack or backpack that stove & tent into the back country? Take a crack at a bear? Fine tune your gopher sharpshootin? Yadda, yadda, yadda...

I've successfully done my '13 goal of exercising all year which I plan to continue.

-Next it to try to get my nephew who turns 8 this year his first deer, came close in Nov but couldn't seal the deal.

-Then try to get my pops to go out hunting w/me as he doesn't hunt much and never really did but he's the first one to take me hunting and how I got hooked on it when I was a youngin'.

-Shoot my first turkey this spring(never been so it will be a first time public land thing for me)

-Shoot my first muley this fall hopefully in MT.

-And finally eat healthier and continue exercising all year long.

Build another house for my family and have enough energy left over to hunt more than the pitiful four days I hunted this year.As always....keep trying for that double digit Brown.Look forward to 2015 when the dust has settled.

Lose weight.

Teach my kid to shoot a bow and try to get him on a deer.

Shoot my first turkey and do it with a bow.

Convince my wife to let me hunt out of state.

Figure out the Wyoming draw system and fish and game website.

Hunt more.

Shoot a mature whitetail with a bow.

1. Get my oldest son shooting well enough that I feel confident in letting him shoot at game.
2. Get game in front of my son for him to shoot.
3. Keep wife happy
4. Attempt to accomplish #3 without using any leave sitting on a beach.

1. Get in better shape and drop a few pounds
2. Get my FIL in front of an antelope for his first western game animal.
3. Try to sneak in a week long Alaska caribou hunt or first trip to Montana for muley.

#1 "Attempt to accomplish #3 without using any leave sitting on a beach. Yep, hunt wherever the wife wants to go. Start with Hawaii in October.
#2 Get off the recliner and wear out the batteries in the new Foxpro!
#3 Get my brother off the couch to hunt something in/near PA.
#4 Get up to WA to hunt something with my son.

My '14 is looking good. My wife has decided to hunt again and yesterday she asked why we don't do more shed hunting and scouting as a family! So my goals are;

Keep my wife interested in hunting and scouting
Lose weight (seems to be a theme around here)
Tag something with my bow
Fish more, hunt more, work less

My first dream hunt started when I was in High School back in the mid 70's. To hunt sea ducks in Alaska. I finally pulled the trigger and I leave in 2 weeks for Adak.

Then take my wife backpacking on Kauai for a month come May.
God willing !

I've been going after my dream hunts for the last 3 years. I'm 51 years old, my wife says I'm going thru MANapause.

My goals for 2014 are 1) to hunt in Africa, 2) hunt deer in Montana with my sons and 3) draw my first ever Wyoming antelope tag, that antelope tag has been an elusive one for me.

1st erary- Get my daughter comfy with the new 7-08.

2nd erary- Positive hunting experience for the 12 year old daughter.

3rd erary. Hunt with Pops.

4therary. Stick with the plan of big bull only or tag soup. The last two years of tag soup have been delicious.
