I understand. I’ve hunted 3 units that border it and have missed one year since 2010. Great Country, wished I was going there this year. Drew Montana, but would much rather be in the Gila or high desert. Also gonna miss eating a chili cheeseburger in pie town or Quemado. Good Luck!
103 for a high in East Texas yesterday. Still no rain in sight and 100 + for at least the next few weeks. Wish we could at least get some cloud cover. This heat is hard on people, animals and our trees. I’ve had 2 matures oaks die within the past 4 weeks. Also saw on the news that the heat is...
Y’all are lucky. 100 plus with no rain in sight for East Texas. P
Yall are lucky. 100+ for our entire forecast in East Texas. No fun with the humidity.
Managed to scrape one out. Tough to get them to respond, but one screwed up. Shot him with my first gun (410) that I got for Christmas 50 years ago when I was 8.
Great unit, get in shape, some pretty tough country.
No draw for me this year. Put in for Montana at the last minute and drew an archery bull. Would gladly trade it for a NM tag!
Wanting to try to turkey hunt in the Gila this year. Anyone know when the better time of the season to get them to respond to a call? If I can’t draw to kill an elk, maybe I can go shoot a turkey…
Great decision! One of your most memorable moments will be your dogs first point. One of the main things I start them doing is learning is to whoa. Using those smallest milk bones, I make them whoa before they can have it. When they get that down, the rest is easy. Even our Yorkie knows the...
Nice dog and gun. Had no idea Abercrombie and Fitch was a high end sporting goods outfitter at one time. They are far from being that now, they probably don’t even like guns.
Found some woodcocks in East Texas last weekend. Shot the first one and let the other 6 fly. It was nice to be able to find some birds close to the house and not have to drive 250 miles to hunt.
