I went with the 16s and really don’t have a reason why. I think at the time I thought “16s are more powerful,” but I really have no idea. I still love mine and use them in the whitetail woods with no problem.

Follow along on Yooper's trad journey!

I’m still here. Just been busy in hunting season…….and failure. Opening night had a nice 250lb boar 15-16 yards away. Mind you, this is the distance I’ve been practicing. The only difference is the bear was always moving/laying down/sitting on his butt. I wanted a broadside shot. The bear...

I concur, have been using them for a year and absolutely love them. Only con, is low light they start tailing off. But I would steer anyone towards these if they are in the market.

Follow along on Yooper's trad journey!

Summer practice has been going well. Still using 35lb limbs, but going to put the 50lb limbs on shortly. Getting more comfortable with my gaps/arrow flight, however it’s all going to change with the hunting limbs. Usually shoot 50-75 arrows a night and have been shooting the club 3D range...

Follow along on Yooper's trad journey!

Figured I would do a blog or a thread (for those interested) on my journey into traditional archery. To start out, I love shooting my bow, I shoot 4-5 times a week and really love the sport of archery. Shooting my bow isn't just practice, it's been therapy for me and lets me block out everything...

    Who's been to Iowa?

I’ve hunted Iowa archery twice. Different experiences from eachother. Granted, both experiences were fun/exciting and I am grateful to be able to hunt the farms we hunt. First year was 2017, unbelievable. It was what you dream of when talking about Iowa. Quality bucks after bucks. I notched my...

    Colorado GMU 54

Big country and steep! Very physically demanding hunt, come prepared! Never hunted first rifle season, only archery. You can get away from people here, due to how vast the landscape is. Some outfitter pressure in the West Elks. We were successful during archery, but had to work for every...

    First go at brats

Pretty good ratio of cheese/Jalapeño flakes. I’m happy with them! Wife approved! They held up better than I expected on the grill. I figured one would at least break out of the casing. -Yooper

    First go at brats

No, Jalepeno powder and flakes. Whatever the kit included. My second rope turned out much better with not overstuffing. I’m going to cook some tonight and see how they go!

    First go at brats

So I’ve always wanted to try brats and today was the day. My wife and I enjoy brats at all times of the year. The local store makes homemade brats which are fantastic, but $8.50 for 4 of them. I took out 13 pounds of venison and 12 pounds of pork butt, got the Bearded Butchers Jalepeno...

    African Safari- Kuche Safaris

So my brother won this hunt at a DU banquet for four hunters. Just curious if anyone on here has experience with this outfit? We have 30 days to claim the hunt. I’ve never really considered an African safari, but this opportunity seems too good to pass up. I’ve read some reviews, most seem...

Colorado deer this year, who is burning points?

I don’t know if it’s concern for me, but more looking at the proposed season structure for 2025-2029 seasons. I think it’s going to go back to the old structure of the past(2015-2019) for example. If all holds true, this years season dates will be the latest in November for the foreseeable...
