To update, I called Montana FWP and spoke to a license specialist. He explained that if I do not apply this year, I will be reset to 0. If I then go in and purchase a point in the summer, I will have 1 point. In my 2024 application I can purchase a point as I apply giving me 2 points...
I have one point right now. (If I bought before the draw I would have 2) So you are saying that I can defer my points and go into the draw and return to draw the tag next year with my two points? I won’t lose points?
I do t have the time to go this year, but will next year.
I’m currently on the last two days of a Wyoming deer hunt in the mountains. I’ve hunted mule deer in the low country, sage brush type environment. Great fun.
How the heck do you hunt October bucks in the dark woods mountains? Every where is blowdowns or deep timber. We have found deer at lower...
CO license surrender deadline is June 6th. If I understand, I will get my money and my points back. Knowing that I can back out of any tags for free, I went into the draw liberally.
Bird in the hand:
Currently, I hold a 3rd season mule deer tag and a 1st season elk tag in CO. All were drawn...
Not successful Deer Combo - 1 point. What's the chance of getting on alternate list? I drew last year the first time and have never been on the alternate list.
at 2 months old, he has a hard time following a thrown toy, but will chase it down if I make him watch it being thrown. He doesn't bring it back to me that great but will pick it up and move it across the room.
I've had a few bad run-ins with my muzzleloader. One time I had a buck following a doe in a field. Got off the ATV, walked down the fence line directly at the deer. It was so focused on the doe it literally did not care that I walked within 100 yards of it. I rested on the fencepost. Took aim...
We've all had a miss, a malfunction, or a mistake while taking aim at an animal. Share your worst shooting moments and misses! Rifle, archery, primitive, anything in between!
Man, there are so many more deer out west than in the whitetail only states. I'm not saying population numbers, but it is just easier to see more deer out west. Open country, mule deer socialize different than whitetails, etc... any place you go in a mule deer populated area of any state is...
it seems like everyone wants them to be a fluffy house dog they can post to instagram when they go to the dog park. I wonder if I cant make him to be more utilitarian.
Got a hold of a free f2 or f1b (not sure) golden doodle pup 8weeks old.
I know these things can get expensive so I thought it was a good deal. I know they come from two breeds that are used for hunting, especially the retriever. What is your input on the breed? I'm not a bird hunter but...
There are mule deer in MT. Hunting is not just about killing a 150" plus buck. If you want to go and shoot at mule deer, go. It's a great place to do so.
Well, I'll follow up. Sorry for being late.
As a campus minister I get to take breaks similar to the univeristy breaks! Managed to get to MT thanksgiving week and we killed a good buck (for us, first mule deer). Thanks to all who helped me get the application in. Best hunt of my life. I'll...
Alright, I will post the exact gps coordinates of the places. Why do we have to be secretive in the hunting world? Literally everyone had access to satellite maps. I'm not even hunting these places.
