I actually did save the head from the biggest fish. We hooked the biggest fish of the trip at 11:57 and our trip ended at Noon. My boys took turns cranking it in. 70” from tip of bill to tip of tail.
Now I just need to find someone with beetles.
We took our kids on a short fishing trip for spring break. I’ve always wanted to catch a paddlefish and now we have! I paid a guide service for 2 mornings of fishing and luckily the weather cooperated. My boys had a blast reeling in fish that are bigger than them!
They were planning to work it last week and then tabled it, so it is likely dead for this year. Bill will technically still be alive through next year though.
I have endless stories about cattle. One really sticks out though.
I was back on winter break during my college years and of course that meant I was now a full time cattleman for 3 weeks.
I was helping my dad sort cattle like I had done hundreds of times. There was a black limousine cow that...
SB 80 was introduced by the KS Livestock Association. We are just going to watch this one and probably submit neutral testimony. This will likely be a contentious bill if/when it gets a hearing.

Wishing I would’ve bought the CF version. I use mine a lot with my kids hunting on public. If you’re hunting private land close to the truck, the aluminum version is fine, but it’s heavy and bulky.
Meat quality is the number 1 thing that has an effect. It took me about 5 briskets to figure that out. Get the best quality beef you can find before putting all that work into cooking it.
Have you been hunting rifle or archery? Are you a resident? I don’t think your experience is unusual. I generally like to hunt and explore different places each year, but that certainly isn’t a great strategy for improving harvest success. If the goal is to kill one I’d say rifle season and...
Really great idea! Everyone keep in mind that Op-Ed pieces are generally around 600 words, so your word use has to be efficient. Working together to highlight several perspectives that tie back to this subject could work well.
Most of us have seen the recent Op-Ed pieces that promote selling federally managed lands, or have at least heard about the effort by Utah to transfer/sell lands.
Why are we letting them drive the conversation? Let’s tell our story and educate the masses about this subject. I would bet that...
