My first antelope never made it to the freezer, either. Made a poor shot and gut shot it with my bow back in late Aug. After pushing it a couple times I left it overnight only to find a bear guarding it the next morning. Coyote was waiting its turn 20 yds away. Only taste I could have...
Hunted on CO public lands in 2015 & 2017. Planning a trip again in 2019. Was wondering if the changes to CO's application fees & process had any noticeable impact on draw odds. I won't have a big pool of preference points built up. Does it make sense to consider a back plan?
I was hooked up with a group of friends (none living near me) that went in 2017 to CO. Hunted elk out of a drop camp. Wanted to go back this year, but they can't. In fact they are out in 2019 too. So I booked with an outfitter in 2019, although I would rather be working it in a small group. More...
Great reasons to be active in fighting these efforts. One voice will most likely make only a small difference but if we join to fight we can have success. Agree, contact your reps and let them know your feelings. But also support groups such as BHA (Backcountry Hunters & Anglers) to keep the...
I too run the Kuiu Pro. I have the 5200 and 1850 packs, but have yet to test the 1850. I can say that the 5200 will work as a day pack, but not optimum. It is much better suited for those multiday hunts and that's what I have used it on. Here in the Hoosier state there isn't often that I need a...
Received an email from Ty Stubblefield, BHA Chapter Coordinator, suggesting there is some good interest in a BHA chapter in Indiana. Appears he is contacting BHA members from the area and trying get some confirmation of interest in getting a chapter going. If any of you HT members that live in...
I have Zamberlans that I bought from Lathrop’s & Sons (before they marketed their own boot). Very happy with them but can say I had a custom fit with adjustments. Tried on the Mountain Hunters and they seem very well built. Very light. But my Zamberlans have a lot of miles left in them so I...
Leukotape is my go to tape for heel hot spots. Will stick for 3-4 days even if you get wet. Flexible conforming to you shape. Also, suggest you find a good shoe shop that specializes in fitting. The heel cup can be shaped to better fit.
I agree with the midsection thing, but at 61 it is getting harder. Having said that I have lost 15# this year. Soon to be at my "hunting" weight, which has come after some lifestyle changes. Eating habits have changed. Love for craft beer, not so much.
Being from the midwest I am a lot more comfortable talking about muzzleloaders or bows than a good elk gun. So I am looking for those who definitely have more experience to provide some advice.
Getting started later in life, I have only been elk hunting a couple of times but do plan to go a few...
I ordered my chains through eTrailer.com. They are from Titan Chains.
Can't say enough about customer service at Titan. When there was a mix-up as to what chains actually fit my tires (error on website selector having the incorrect model #) I called Titan. Told him the issue and he said "Heck...
