Todays the big day ! Surgery ....

Been there. Good luck. Don’t skip the physical therapy. It makes all the difference.

    Withdraw

Bump for a great little rifle. My boys love ours. I actually carry it some myself. Somebody is getting a good deal.

    New Tikka Model

There is a Roughtech Superlite out now. Looks like the Roughtech stock with a 20in for short action, fluted Superlite barrel. I want to see one before I pull the trigger on it. Those Superlite’s are my favorite Tikka. I always wanted a fluted barrel on a SS CTR as they are about a pound too...

    Reloading the .300 WSM

My TSX load is identical for my CA Ridgeline 300wsm. I’m averaging around .5 MOA though. It’s a lightning bolt on deer.

6.5 CM as a hunting cartridge... why?

I had a 6.5 CM in a Tikka CTR. Man that thing shot great. But interestingly enough, the felt recoil of that rifle weighing 9ish lbs was more of than that of my 6.5 lb Superlite in 308. Not sure why.

    Anyone Use a 350 Legend?

We have one. A CVA single shot. It’s plenty accurate, has mild recoil, and kills game soundly within 100yds. I haven’t seen it used on anything over that distance. My kids use it mostly. If I lived in a straight wall use state I wouldn’t hesitate to use it under 200yds.

    EOY '24 - What Worked, What Didn't

Worked: a Tikka 308 Superlite, my kids Stoeger 3020 20ga w/TSS #7’s-a true 60 yard turkey hammer, Accubonds and TSX’s-still, Schnee’s 10in pack boot, and the OnX hunt app navigating public land. Didn’t Work: My Leupold VX5 3-15x44. Previously missing a season for a repair for not adjusting...

Talk me out of a Knight Ultra Lite

I have only one load. It’s the first one I tried and it shoots .75 groups at 100. 110gr BH209, 290 Barnes TMZ, Winchester 209 primer. I shoot 777 out of my hawkens and I have no doubt it would work as well. As far as break in I did nothing special. With the BH209 you can shoot longer without...

Talk me out of a Knight Ultra Lite

I understand your frustration. It’s not exactly what you understood to be buying. My experience with my Knight Mountaineer is that it’s a super reliable, well made piece of gear. It’s heavy and a pain to clean. But what I love about it is this, I don’t have to fool with it. I have never even...

Talk me out of a Knight Ultra Lite

I shoot 777 and #11’s in all my traditional guns (3). Cleanup is easy and ignition is not a problem. I wouldn’t hesitate to shoot a knight with that system.

Talk me out of a Knight Ultra Lite

The knight rifles HQ are local to me so I am kind of biased. I don’t have an ultra light but do have a mountaineer. Actually one of the first ones produced. It is a flat out nail driver. I can get a 3-4 inch 3 shot group at 200. That’s with 110gr BH209 and a Barnes 290 TMZ. They are well built...

    Slugs in a Smoothbore?

I have shot lots of them out of both combat style and hunting guns. Mainly the Remington sluggers. Most accurate guns I ever saw were an 870 with a smooth bore barrel and scope on it and a 870 SBR with a 14in barrel surprisingly. The SBR shot with rifle style accuracy at 50 and 75 yards.

Question for those who have rebarreled a rifle...

My smith gave me my old one back. It’s still in shop taking up space somewhere.

    Short 7mm-08 barrel length?

I have a 20” 7-08. No complaints there on performance. But with a suppressor I would probably go 18” or maybe even shorter. I would figure out what I wanted my overall length to be and just try to find a compromise between that and velocity.

    Christensen Arms, what's the verdict?

Glad to hear it shoots. My Ridgeline 300wsm has a little bit of a stiff bolt but shoots fantastic. 150gr TSX handloads at 3175fps. It’s been bad medicine on all the whitetails I have pointed it at.

    Stock finish ideas - walnut

Minwax antique oil stain. I did a TC Renegade stock with it last year and it turned out great. I think I did 8 coats over the coarse of a week, letting it dry in between.

    .243 Winchester

My 10 year old son is hunting with a Ruger American compact in 243. I converted it to the AICS mags just so I had one less type of mag around. It’s pretty accurate with factory and handloads, around 1MOA. He kills stuff with it and likes it. I have no experience with the savage. I would...

    CA ridgeline 7 prc

My ridgeline in 300wsm has a tight bolt lift with a majority of loads. It’s plenty accurate though. Good luck.

10+ Years of Use, What Worked

Kuiu Attack pants. They are getting kinda rough but we keep on keeping on.

    Wow

Yeah. As a Braves fan, I’m not a fan of this.
