so looking around on Gunbroker there are some Federal 209A's available, but damn people are asking a premium.
that being said: i'm tempted to just buy a brick (1,000) for $180 +Sh/Tax.
but i dont need 1,000,
anyone on here from Denver and wants to split for half? i'd order and we can split it...
o wow, i just looked at my receipt and i'm glad system tracking/cookie settings did their job.
i logged into Big Game Tags at 9:00:05 :), picked a tag, but with that crash/wait for the check out cart, my receipt is actually listed as 9:10am so it held tag i grabbed correctly. **and i know...
my first year trying for Leftover scramble and....... 9:00:05 logged in, entered tag i wanted (1 of 11), was available. added it to cart and i thought system crashed, because i got the Que running blue man between adding a tag to cart and trying to check out. waited 8 min or so and it opened...
awesome thanks. and yes would be great to go shoot with someone. i'll PM you
i'm just waiting for cleaning kit (on backorder) otherwise i have everything else ready to go out and try at the range.
**will call Thor to confirm but sounds like i'll be ordering .500 as i could not force .501's...
hey guys, i'm making progress and getting lots of help answering my questions so far, so thank for that.
Now i'm onto next question: Bullet fit / loading pressure.
i just tested and loaded (no powder, just the bullets) to see how the whole process feels and for THOR bullets what the right...
thanks guys, appreciate the advise.
i have few bullets in front of me, and i just test fitted them, i'll start new Bullet specific thread with few pictures shortly to ask few questions.
i haven't hunted in those units. *(well Antelope in 9 but that doesnt help you). but i do fish in that area so i spend some time up there.. there are definitely enough elk and deer and plenty of moose there, it just gets busy (same as everywhere else in CO).
i did look at Federal Bor Lock Copper and it was the only other bullet i wanted to try as well, but i cannot find it anywhere in stock. if i find some later i may give it a try as well.
i have time, Muzzy purchase was in preparation for 2023 seasons and forward just to find some new Tags/Seasons/hunt opportunities. so not in any rush for this fall.
good luck on your hunts. if not a secret, what units are you hunting?
thanks guys, good to know my plan makes sense.
CVA Accura LR-X (i got the CO model) so it has William's rear peep and front fiber optic. i really like how it holds on targets. and will be exciting to actually shoot it open sights to get proficient.
i am already looking at William's front...
quick question:
i did just get my 1st muzzy CVA Optima .50cal.
got some powder, bullets, primers.
**waiting on cleaning kit now.
but otherwise i'll be ready to go to the range and test it out.
i'm in CO so i will only hunt Open Sights.
question: is my thinking correct that simply for figuring...
appreciate it,
in the meantime to get me started a friend is giving me some CX2000 by Cheddite,, not sure how well they will work with BH209 out of my new Accura LR-X .50cal
o thanks, didnt think about being about to "unload" fromt eh breech, but at $2 it was the cheapest add on, i was just in that mode: what other little things can i add to the cart :)
excited to try it al out once i get it.
i am actually thinking of using digital scale and getting a 20 pack...
update: thanks again everyone for input.
i ended up going with .50cal Accura LR-X
next question: since i am 100% new to this.
what other accessories will i absolutely need?
so far with rifle i ordered:
- bullet starter
- bullet puller
- field cleaning kit (from CVA/BPI) + breech plug...
i looked at both as well. Hodgdons has 2 bottle limit and high shipping fee.
Cabelas i ordered 3 bottles and $0 shipping as i'm picking up in store in Denver.
figured 3 bottles may be enough to work out / test loads in my new Muzzy that was ordered and should be on the way as well.
