    12 states join Utah

I am saddened by this as well. The Wyoming office of State Lands is run by some really good people, but it is under staffed and has a dollar today and be darn with tomorrow. Wyoming State Lands are home to the worst of the worst when it comes to oil and gas. Namely produced water evaporator...

Your Personal Wounding Rate- Archery Elk

I wounded my fist deer in 2004. I did not have range finder and shot low through a front leg. This was a fatal shot because the landowner put her down and I never hunted that farm along the Gallitin again. Since then I have had a clean miss on a cow and been successful pretty much every year...

Anyone near Gillette that minds sharing some intel on the fires?

Not huge, but you never know. I would pay attention to anything getting out to the end of his ears with 3pts per side or more. It's just not a place that big deer are super common in my experience. I'm up there pretty regularly for work and recreation.

Anyone near Gillette that minds sharing some intel on the fires?

I would just hunt as if nothing had changed, unless your spots are up against the fire line. Giver hell.

    Kids

I'll take 3 or 4 small bookies with my kids over golden trout in the backcountry. I don't hunt and fish quite as much as used to, but I enjoy it a whole lot more.

Solo Elk Hunt in Colorado: Am I About to Embark on a Glorious Disaster?

If I'm alone, I make sure I have gas in the tank to make the hike from camp to where I am at 7 times. That's what it will take me to pack out an elk. 4 heavy loads to the truck. 3 more trips empty. Don't gas yourself just finding elk. If you can keep that in mind and be honest with yourself...

Anyone near Gillette that minds sharing some intel on the fires?

OnX fire layer has MODIS hot spots which are pretty true to what's happening on the ground. Both the constitution and flat rock are active and those fire perimeters are not done growing.

The WY 511 website is pretty reliable. 14 looks like it's still open.

I 90 east of Gillette detour

Very well may look different in the morning. We have had a lot of new starts tonight around Gillette. Our crews will have their hands full unfortunately.

    wyoming leftover whitetail doe tags

There's not a ton of white tails in those areas, particularly on public ground. They are around, but you will probably have to put some miles on to find them. It's nothing like the black hills.

    Wyoming Recommendations

If you have time. Medicine Lodge state park has a really impressive set of petroglyphs, if that's the type of thing you are into.

How’s the rain been in North Central WY… and how does that effect mule deer?

We got nearly and inch Friday. That's the spotty part.

How’s the rain been in North Central WY… and how does that effect mule deer?

I'm on the east side of the Big Horns. The rain seemed to be spotty this year. I would day this has been a average or slightly better in spots. With that said things are hot and starting to dry out quickly. Depending on where you are headed I would plan to bring water if you are on the...
