Okay I have a older Sako 75 .308, 1/11 twist. Shooting 165 grain hornady SST's I'm getting sub moa 5 shot groups at 100 yards and have been happy with that, but at 200 yards I'm all over the place. I'm shooting on sand bags and on a real flimsy wood bench at the range. I'm thinking trying...
Yeah, $20k for a 200" whitetail these days is a bit steep for me. But then again, there's not much other income on these ranches these days so I think its a win for both involved.
I've never heard of any anti hunting stuff in Texas yet, though I'm a long ways from big cities. If anything we've gained more gun rights in the past few years.
I lure fish quite a bit south of there ish. I know Port A down to the land cut quite well. I'm out of pocket those days, but if y'all need some pointers etc... PM me.
Pretty happy with my Black Eagles. Shot Renegades last year and this year fletching my own with the Rampage. Did pretty good in 3D shoots so far with them and looking forward to some hunting with them this year.
^^^Totally agree on used bows. I just picked up a barely used 2018 Hoyt RX1 for $850 and am very happy with it and glad I didn't go and buy a brand new one.
I bought a cheap Vortex 8x monocular a few years back for $50 and was very impressed how good it worked and now use the Diamondback 10x42's. They are even better. Maybe someday I'll buy the HD glass they have, but for now I'm real happy with the Diamondbacks.
I haven't lost much hunting, but fishing on the other hand I had a rough day once. I caught a near state record fish while I was wadefishing. I was so overwhelmedI d while I was taking pictures I dropped my fishing rod in the water and didn't realize it until I was walking back to the truck...
All of my rifles I have are used, two of which on Gunbroker. Two shoot sub MOA, really can't complain with that. I bought a 1972 Remington 700 at a pawn shop that had a trigger job. Cleaned it up and put a nice Zeiss on it, its a great shooter. The one that doesn't is a late 1970's Remington...
