    AZ Quail help

Grew up hunting quail in the Thatcher/Safford area (Gila Valley). It's all agriculture so there's a lot of water(river and canals). I know it's a drive from the valley, but if you ever head that way, I can give specific spots.

    Jason Lee's First Elk Hunt!!!!.........

Hell, we can get 5 pages just talking good beer. I've been a Fat Tire drinker for a while. One of my favorites! :D How's the Blue Paddle? I've seen it, but hav'nt par-taked in a sample yet. Of course Alaskan Amber falls right in with Fat Tire as good chit. I also like to take along some...

    Chukar 101 help

No Ith, I have'nt made it down there yet. A litte far for a 1/2 day hunt, but I do plan on going down before the season ends. I do know of a spot around here that holds 'A LOT' of birds, but you have to hike in a ways to get to it. I guess thats why there's so many chukar there, no one hunts...

    Chukar 101 help

Thanks gents, I'll keep it mind next time I'm out. I think the main problem is the general location; big, steep hills. There's some descent rock cover but these guys sit about 3/4 up the hill and then flush 1/2 way down the back side (very steep side). Don't get me wrong, I still have a...

    Chukar 101 help

Need some hunting tips for these bad boys. We (dog and I) find them no problem but after the first flush, the covey is gone. The places we hunt are preety steep. If I approach from the bottom, they run over the top. If I hunt from the top they fly down or around the hill and keep going. We...

    What was your first dog?

GSP, and I still have her. As for stories, there's plenty, but today we went out in all of this fog and got a pheasant(wild) and a few quail. Had a great time. Best of luck on your first. Regardless of the breed, you're in for a great time.

    Jason Lee's First Elk Hunt!!!!.........

Elkhunter, cool idea with the hat. Not bad, but you're not thinking right You can only support 24-32oz's at one time. My solution, 100oz camel pack of moose drool(some Montanny beer). Drinking that much beer thru a straw really kicks.:D And as for the whacky weed, I would suggest special...

    Jason Lee's First Elk Hunt!!!!.........

Nut, You forgot to mention your spot light! Personally, I use one with at least 1,000,000 candle power. :D :D I guess guys don't know the challenge of driving, and drinking, and trying to shoot out the window of your truck without spilling the beer! :D ;)

    What breed of dog?

I think it shows you can add $250-$500 to the price of a dog for having a certification, but it wont gauruntee your dog will be a good hunter. I believe the dogs upbringing(training) will determine it's ability in the field. But hey, if people want to keep spending big dollars for...

    What breed of dog?

You're still in the right ballpark CH, Shorthairs will normally go for $250-$500 depending on bloodline. Like you said, it's the fancy named one's that get pricey but that sure don't make them better hunters. It's just like paying more for brand names. I've hunted with so called 'high...

    So where are you going?!!!......

HS: Only 15 miles. Hell, I'm thinking more in the lines of 50-75. If I leave in August, I should get there in time :D If you swing close to Mt Home give me a call. I love to help out with the kitty hunt. Like they say, the only good kitty is a dead kitty. ;) Don't chastize me...
