I have a T/C Omega stainless/laminate that I bought new many years ago. It is still in excellent condition. In the past, I have used 777 both in pellets and loose powder, along with a few different bullet types. What I am using now is what has worked out the best for me. That being Blackhorn...
I think that this comparison is spot on! I have a neighbor that buys $100 scopes and kills nice bucks every year. To him, if the scope holds zero, it is "good enough" for him. When we sight in, he will look through one of my high end scopes and say "nice", and I'm sure that he thinks that I...
I have a Leica Amplus 6 2.5x-15 50i, and it is superb! I have/had Leupold VX-5HD's, Zeiss Conquest, Swarovski Z3, and the Leica is the best scope that I have ever looked through.
Hunting your entire life with one gun...there is a lot to be said for that, and we have all heard "fear the man that only has one gun". To me though, I like diversity in my gun cabinet. Have bought and sold many over the years from many different manufacturers (mostly bought), and love them...
Those Leupold Alumina covers definitely look nice, but they sure are $$$. I have used the Butler Creek Flip Open covers for many years, and have them on all of my scopes on my guns from .22 to .300 Wby mag, and have never had a problem with them. Just ordered another set for my incoming...
Yeah, love my Leupold's...they are top notch! Just today ordered a VX-Freedom 3-9x 50 Firedot 177228 for my muzzleloader. I have one on my Featherweight .308, and like it a lot. This will be the 6th different scope on my muzzleloader including Nikon, Bushnell, Vortex, and other Leupold's, and...
Those VX-R's are nice scopes! I have a 3-9x 50 on my X Bolt Maple Medallion, and a 4-12x 50 on my .257 Wby mag. That Firedot is a nifty little feature.
Here is a recent, real world comparison of a $200 scope and a $1500 scope. I hunted all of the firearm season (November 15-30) here in Michigan with a Leica Amplus 6 2.5-15x 50i ($1500) on a new hunting rifle. Then came muzzleloader season (December 2-11). My inline muzzleloader is topped...
Once you have experienced quality glass, it's hard to go back to "decent" glass. To upgrade to quality glass is money well spent, IMO. Speaking of Leica, it's top shelf glass. I have a Leica CRF 1000R rangefinder, and recently bought a Leica Amplus 6 2.5-15x 50i for my new Browning X Bolt...
I shoot this exact ammo out of my X Bolt 6.5 Creedmoor, and it shoots great. Also use it out of my Featherweight in .308 (150 grain), and it also shoots great. Unfortunately, have not shot a deer with either rifle yet, so no terminal performance on game to report.
