Day 7 was Dingboche to Loboche 4.6 miles and almost 2,000 feet higher as per usual the Nepali flat of huge downs followed by huge ups. My fitness tracker said I burned almost 3,800 calories on this day
The face buff is for the sun, the dust on the trail and the air is so dry it helps avoid the Khumbu cough. It was a very useful item to have.
We only had rain on day one then sunny and beautiful but the yak trains, mules trains and trekkers can stir up the dust too.
Doha is safe, clean and modern. I had zero worries there. You could stay right in the airport but I wanted to see the sights. The other airport that is easy to get to Kathmandu is through Dubai. Either city is safe. IMO.
Day 5 Deboche to Dingboche, 6.8 miles of what the guides call Nepali Flat. Which means up and down all day but ending higher. Today they started taking our O2 saturation at dinner. I was at 92 which surprised my Nepali guide. He did it three times then asked why my 02 was so high?🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️...
Yeah it just took me an extra 3 years but it all came together. Had a really great bunch of people to trek with. Everyone was focused and easy to get along with. Made some lifelong friends
Day 4 I departed Namche and the weather remained perfect. Going to Deboche about 7.5 miles and 1,600 feet higher but that only tells part of the story. In order to get to Deboche you drop almost 1,000 feet into a river valley and then it is up hill from there
A group of porters resting. Without...
Yeah it took awhile for me to get that one figured out. It was a HUGE fake tree on a huge wheeled wagon that was an offering to one of their gods. Seems there was a drought and this was supposed help end the drought. Only problem is that it toppled over a bit and it blocked the road.
Day three was a rest and acclimatize day in Namche.
Statue honoring Tenzing Norgay Sir Edmund Hillary’s Sherpa
Propane delivery is by Yak in the Khumbu
The loads the people pack is beyond anything I have ever seen
My group that I trekked with
Day 2 dawned bright and clear. After breakfast and tea we saddled up for the first long pull up hill. Joreselle to Namche is 2.5 miles but every step is up hill.
The Hillary suspension bridge
First glimpse of Everest is right after the bridge
Pulling into Namche after gaining about 2,100...
Day one of the trek was May 2nd, 2023. 8.5 miles from Lukla to Jorselle which is actually 200 feet lower in elevation but the whole day was gaining and losing elevation and it rained all day
uh no plans of ever doing that. I am meeting my girlfriend in Paris for two weeks but I won’t be posting...
From Kathmandu took a van ride to an airstrip at Rameche which is an adventure in itself. Only 60 miles but it took 4 hours but thank god it was dark so nobody could see what terrain we drove through. Although it was only a 20 minute flight it was white knuckles . The plane takes off to the...
To begin it was an adventure to just get to Nepal. I drove from Glasgow, MT to Spokane. Spokane to San Francisco, San Francisco to Doha Qatar. Had an almost 24 hour lay over in Doha
