Swing and a miss on the smith permit this year. Hopefully some of my MT resident friends drew. One of my friends in Missoula mentioned that the permits are now similar to hunting tag allocations, no more than 10% allowed to Non-residents. Hope others had better luck than we did.
I do specifically for antelope. Last two of the three years I've drawn my antelope doe tags. Went unfilled by choice both years. Whitetails are a different story.
I'm sure it sucked for you "southerners" to make the drive, but for once I could actually attend the meeting in person in Cody. Couldn't agree more on them ignoring public comments, I made multiple written comments and emails to the task force that went unresponsive only to have them cater to...
Add $20 to my resident elk tag and cut all non resident tags. Problem solved and more tags for Wyoming residents. Totally fine with this as a Wyoming resident.
Looked up my favorite non-profit, RMEF, same thing. Makes me second guess the organizations I donate to to be honest. I think they still do good work. But our dollars to acres could go a lot further if those extra couple hundred k were spent elsewhere....
Caught my first burbot on early ice in December. Anyone have tips on the best way to clean them? I tried the peel the skin back with a pair of pliers and it was kind of a pain in the butt on the bigger ones.
Trying an Irish breakfast sausage recipe. It might have been more like 30% fat, I still need to run it through the fine and stuff it in casings. I will try some ice water and see if that helps. Thanks for the advice guys!
Does anyone run into an issue with their sausage mix feeling dry prior to stuffing into casings. I'm not sure if my fat to venison percentages are too high, I usually try and run a 75%-25% venison to fat mix. When I end up stuffing the sausage it comes out super dry in the frying pan. Any...
@BlacktailMaster I'm assuming this isn't a troll post because your responses seem genuine and just wanted to clarify why you are getting some sarcastic replies earlier in the thread. As others have pointed out, a simple back pack trip into this unit just wouldn't be feasible. Can it be done...
@BirdManMike Maybe you have answered this before but what is the collar around his neck?
Looking forward to the rest of the season in this thread. Stoked to get my four legged friend out on the sharpies come opener.
The genuine excitement and emotion after the shot between the three of you made that episode for me. Big antlers, sure thats cool, seeing the three of you that stoked, I'm sure that's a memory you three wont be forgetting any time soon. That's what hunting is about for me, making memories with...
Late season cow and doe deer tag for this guy. Missed antelope and bull elk. Oh well, I tend to enjoy the late season cow hunts more than bull hunting anyway. Congrats to all that drew!
