HB0060 - Excess Wildlife Population Damage - Not sure on this one

WY legislature looked at MT and said "hold my beer". I have a feeling we will be fighting a very similar bill in MT in about 10 months.

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

There really is no answer to your esoteric question, the market does what it does for a number of intertwined reasons. We can wonder about it but the there is only one thing that is actionable, diversification (real estate, whatever). No one can tell the future, you can only operate with what...

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

It's from the median returns of the market since inception. Median compounding returns on 30-yr investments (you understand how that would be different than yearly median returns right?) are ~7% for the DOW, 7.6% for the S&P and 9.5% on the NASDAQ. This takes into account the potential 30-yr...

I'm pretty sure almost everyone is already following that rule.

    EXO K1 pack

I packed out over 40 animals on my K1 before I had to replace shoulder straps and belt. The most durable pack I have owned.

Montana - Time to Shake it Up?

Didn't a lot of that area also burn in the early 2000's, specifically 2000-2001?

Montana - Time to Shake it Up?

What do you think completely separating mule deer and elk seasons would do? Say, mule deer rifle runs Oct 1-Oct 31, Elk Runs Nov 1-31 or later? I wonder if more people would hunt mulies strictly because there is no elk to hunt? Or, these incidental deer hunters that are actually hunting elk...

Montana - Time to Shake it Up?

Gravity is technically a theory too.... As far as elk vs mule deer, WY also has some science to back it up. However, at least in the areas I hunt that have transitioned enormously to elk that used to hold tons of mule deer, there have been noticeable habitat changes that favor elk much more so...

Montana - Time to Shake it Up?

I would also say that not recognizing that there is a weather component (at least as far as recent total population in R7) and putting the blame solely on overharvest is not going to help matters when talking to commissioners or the department.

Montana - Time to Shake it Up?

It's not just FWP. We're going to struggle to get the commission and/or legislature on board, not to mention other hunters.. It needs to be a united front, much like MOGA produces a united front when they offer up changes. I don't agree with alot of what MOGA does, but man they sure do create...

You don't think a lot of people would inundate the woods those last 4-5 days of October? That seems a likely scenario

Montana - Time to Shake it Up?

IMO, total opportunity could stay the same. I mean the opportunity for OTC. Now, I agree we should change the dates and, personally, I would like to see us start to limit weapons. I do not want to see archery favored over rifle, I mean limiting rifles and limiting bows to decrease harvest.

Montana - Time to Shake it Up?

You could argue "protecting habitat" would be shutting down roads which would increase escapement.

Montana - Time to Shake it Up?

I think the people describing "opportunity" are the same ones describing "access" as something they can drive a vehicle into. The more I talk with average people the more I think the sledding is steeper and steeper uphill.

FWP Upland Gamebird Hunting Reg Meeting

Yea, I liked the chair made note to Cebull and Tabor that these last minute amendments are frowned upon, doesn't seem like either care. All the shenanigans had me listening to certain parts of the meeting a couple times to make sure I was understanding. It also seems to me that Walsh/Tabor may...
