Socks?
As mentioned above, Merino wool socks. As also mentioned, alot of foot care above just good socks. I also tape the back of my heals. I don't have the mindset of a thief, but I definitely don't have the balls to do something like take someone's stuff that I know will have some sort of weapon out in the middle of nowhere! Same here! I was hunting in Ohio (not camping), and when we get back to the truck, the guys truck parked beside of ours had the glass broken out and some items missing. Our truck wasn't touched. I was kinda offended by how inconsiderate the theives were to turn their nose up at our stuff!- genesis273

Ft Jackson, SC. What to see?
In my opinion, you're going to have to drive at least two hours from there to see anything worth seeing. Columbia isn't much to look at.
