While people might be joking a bit, you literally can glass from a roof in Bozeman. I'm pretty sure (at least in the past) that your tag has been the hardest tag to draw in MT. Mostly because a deaf and blind 500 pound ATV hunter could still get a goat there.
I wouldn't shoot the first thing...
Very cool, I was really hoping to get in those mountains for work, but it looks like we're probably sticking it out in the Gallatin. BTW I like the dual rod strategy... not a bad idea.
Has anyone ever heard elk bugling this time of year? I was working down by Gardiner this week and heard several different elk bugling. I have heard of young bulls half halfheartedly making noise but one bull kept bugling like it was the rut, and heard different one sound off a couple times.
One...
Geez quota is filled before I could get up there. O well still headed up, hopefully my dad and miller didn't drink all the beer yet. Hopefully I can find a catfish or two.
Congrats if you did draw.
I find it funny how we all try to find ways to see if we drew a tag or not as soon as possible. (looking to see if they took money out of your account, seeing if bonus points went up, etc.)
I do it too, but it's just funny, when we would likely find out within a day...
Haha, wow that is impressive. I've had 15+ mile days and found nothing. It's a good day when I find a shed. I've also had a a friend pick up a moose horn that I was almost standing on that I didn't see, that could explain some of it.
Haha, I hiked all over the CMR last summer and still only saw a couple sheds.
I hope that picture was just from you trying to see how many sheds you could fit in the pack from multiple outings... if that was actually from one trip, it makes me feel like a really crappy shed hunter. My...
I assume it is piebald (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piebald)
I have seen a deer, elk and a turkey like this. The elk was running around by Gardiner quite awhile back, almost completely white with dark legs. It was pretty cool.
Very cool. Nice pics. What time did you set up your blind? The only time they were missing from Airport was the middle of the day. I don't know if I would have the patience, to wait that long.
I went up to the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge last weekend and saw a sage grouse lek for the first time and spotlighted a few ferrets, helping out with the spring survey.
Got some cool video.

Awesome videos. I got a chance to see a sage-grouse lek for the first time last weekend, still haven't gone out for sharp tail, I need to do that sometime.
Just curious of what others think about this.

Has anyone ever noticed a displacement of bighorns due to mountain goats? or does anyone think introduced mt. goats would have much of an effect on the...
Don't mean to be a thread stealer, but curious if anyone knows if I don't buy points this year, do I lose previous points or can I skip a year without losing them?
Hypothetical scenario: Someone posts, "In antelope district 42, go to such and such area, I've seen some boone and crocket bucks there"
Anyone who googles "antelope district 42" sees this, then the place is over crowded with hunters.
This may be an exaggeration, but that is why many would...
