Favorite sport by far is hockey, but we also watch football. Had a roommate in college who introduced me to hockey. Despite living in NM, I learned to skate and joined a beer league. Prefer pro hockey as the college and international games don't have the same spirited physical altercations...
These guys sure saw "something" while they were in Unit 50...

Wife and I are lucky enough to be able to work from home. Other than keeping up with the kids, I've been forging knives on the weekend, spending more time outdoors with the family, and we decided to add to the chaos by getting a new puppy.
Would like to work on some home improvement projects...
I once went in to the Roswell BLM office to complain about a locked gait on BLM and their response was for me to cut it off. I asked for that in writing and the supervisor came over and explained that the gate in question sat something like 10 yards into private. Said he had driven out...
I started out several years back with a used Matthews MQ1, which I still shoot now. It's roughly 20 years old, but it shoots just fine and the speed isn't slow enough to justify $1,000+ on a new bow. My father in law picked it up off ebay, then sold it to me when he purchased 3 other bows...
Based on my experience in Unit 50 during 2nd archery last year, I'd say you might regret applying. However, having a later season might be to your benefit if the weather pushes the elk into the unit. PM me and I'd be happy to try to help.
The conspiracy theorist in me is wondering if this Special Game Commission meeting had something to do with the draw results. The beginning of the meeting was a closed door session about litigation.
Hunted South Central NM on a mid October Muzzle loader hunt a couple years back. There was a little bit of bugling in the early morning but that was about it. Not sure if it had to do with the time of year, or the several hundred rifle hunters who were out the week before my hunt made them go...
The Hunting License is not refundable. From page 13 of the 20-21 Regs:
"When applying for draw licenses for Barbary sheep, bighorn sheep, deer, elk, ibex, javelina, oryx and pronghorn, hunters must purchase a nonrefundable 2020–21 game-hunting license or game-hunting & fishing license and HMAV...
I'd love to know how I join this "spoiled rotten" crowd you refer to. I don't feel spoiled to have applied for a Resident Antelope tag for the past 13 years and never drawn. Or when I ask a rancher to hunt antelope on his land and be told he sells tags for $3,500 a pop. These split hunts...
I second what Panda said about dogs. We wounded a crane and the dog got to it before we could (it landed across a creek). The dog got it's tail whooped pretty good before we could finish the crane off. They're surprisingly tough birds.
If you're going to sit and wait for them to fly over...
Fair enough, thanks. Was just curious how far they're going with this. Sounds like it's not much different than the handful of times I've encountered a Game and Fish guy out in the field.
As others have mentioned, gohunt would be a great tool to help you pick a unit.
What weapon are you planning to hunt with (bow, muzzle loader, rifle)? That can greatly impact your odds of drawing a tag and will impact the number of animals and hunters you see while out in the field.
What...
I've got a BDC on top of my in-line and love it. Just work out the load that is the most consistent out of your muzzleloader and then verify what yardages your BDC is set to.
