What is your favorite target and why?
I am currently shooting a cheap bag target from Cabela’s and it works fine. Might upgrade to something like the Rinehart 18-1 or a block target after I shoot through this.
I haven’t been able to work out as much as I was hoping to but I made a pull-up bar out of pipe and 4x4s in the garage. Been doing pull-ups and pushups. And some sand bag workouts between work calls. Really need to get some cardio in... The MTNTOUGH body weight stuff looked good but havnt...
Made Hank Shaw’s Sardinian Hare Stew. Didn’t have any jackrabbits but I did have a cotton tail and a squirrel. I accidentally shredded the meat too much. Don’t let the pic fool you, the flavor was great. Went well with some freshly baked bread.
I don’t think I’d need to worry about expansion at that speed. That was a thought as well. I do have a 270 I was going to work something up at 130 and use that for elk (if I get the chance to go). The more I think about it the odder it seems using the mag with that light of bullet. Hoping it...
That’s promising. Thought it might be a laser with the small bullet with that much powder behind it. Glad to hear something similar worked well for you.
Anyone tried this? Thought about trying to work up a load but wanted to see if anyone has. I would assume this is enough for dee/pigs down to coyotes. Or is this too small for the cartridge?Thoughts?
Are there any resources on how increasing FOC affects spine needs? Or does it not make a huge difference? I assumed more weight up front could have an impact.
Interesting to hear the experience of others. The rifle is super accurate which is great. It feels like a shotgun which can throw you off when a pheasant pops up in front of you.
I ended up with an old Remington 760 Gamemaster. At first I enjoyed the idea of a pump 30.06 but the more I shoot it the less I like it. I think it just doesn’t fit me right.
Anyways, curious to see if anyone on here likes or uses a pump rifle for hunting. Seems like they would be a good...
I agree with @Gut Shot. I have had good luck using a coat of dewaxed shellac to prevent that issue. The stain won’t be as dark since the shellac will “seal” the wood so you may need a couple coats of it or let it soak longer.
Not to high jack this but could you elaborate on the reloading approach you mentioned? I’m about to start reloading so this may be a basic question. How are you accurately tracking your velocity without the chronograph? Ballistic calculators?
