I made some improvements on my original design.
https://www.hunttalk.com/threads/i-made-some-sneaky-shoes.295558/

I redesigned the stitching for the sole so there is no internal seam to rub on toes. I added a finger loop to help slide my feet in. I cut down the number of lace eyelets for convenience. Also glued on some felt to help tone down the noise and add some cushion. Once this felt wears out I'm going to try going thicker but I don't know if I want more soft or more firm yet. I hiked a couple miles in them this weekend with a hunting weight pack on. That's about all this tenderfoot could take.

They are deadly quiet and light so mission success. Can't wait to put them to the test next month.

Good idea. Been thinking of making myself a pair. Did you just wing the plans?

Pretty much. I put on an old sock and duct taped it. Then I drew out the patterns after cutting it off my foot. Once everything was cut out I tweaked whatever I needed by adding or removing tape.

Wow. I was happy to get within 100 yds (above treeline) last Fall, but I had a rifle, so that was close enough. 8 yds seems impossible.
