Those Breaks sheep sure are skinny.
Need some more mountain lions, some wolves, and a grizzly bear or six up there.
The YNP boundary herd has all of the above, and the sheep are fat toads down here.
:)
While I admire your effort and approach to meticulousness(?), as we also only let our hands touch our game meat, how clean we need our meat is "about as clean as we eat it". Which - for the vast majority of us - is a pretty damned clean product.
Countless, including me, have been eating game...
Don't blame Ma Nature too much, we (the apex of evolution/God's creation-so as not to offend....) most likely have more than a small hand in this little problem's presence...............................................
Sheep live in the best landscapes. I'm just about to the point that I will be comfortable, never getting a Breaks tag (specifically Ironstake Ridge country:)), but always being able to hang out with 'em - where they live - with a camera.
Great pic of a great place .......................
Great reply, and I sincerely understand where you're coming from......
I hope you can understand where I'm coming from -
Your reply is illustrative of, along with (at least) many dozens of former co workers attitudes-positions (or lack thereof) -and actions, the thousands of Montana public...
A shit ton of the same folks who originally voiced opposition against shoulder seasons are participating the hell outta' them right now. All kindsa' folks hitting the ground west of Bozeman for their 16 minute hunt.

What worked:
My girls. Younger is developed into an intense and absolutely reliable partner
My old girl, going on 5 year old retooled knees continues to be who she's always been
And absolutely agree with Oak - luck.
What didn't work:
Me, since the last day of July.
Life is good.
I have hunted since 1975 (+/-).
Hunted Montana since 1985.
Worked for the Montana public hunter for over 30 years.
Have seen, lived, experienced Montana hunting - warts and gems all - more than most on here. Fact. Couldn't say that if I hadn't did what I did for a living.
That being said...
Took my twelve year old best friend bird machine out yesterday morning to chase roosters. She still hunts her heart out.
We got home and she was really tuckered. Spent rest of the day laying real still and quiet. Too still and too quiet. Not the same intense, limitless go-getter she's always...
As an answer to the original question - an absolute waste of money.
If I wasn't such an under achiever, maybe I coulda' come up with ways to make money like sell this kinda' stuff to willing buyers.

And oh yeah.
For some of us, there is nothing that is "hunting (or fishing, or hiking, or floating, or taking pics of rams, or....) unrelated".
I self righteously pity those who are not of the above persuasion.
There is no fake news at 9300 feet on a scree slope, on the Yellowstone during the...

A gorilla in the room, as it pertains to science......
There are times when we scientists are our own worst enemy.
An example, which is often discussed on this very forum:
MT's state fish and wildlife agency "science" has become suspect in many cases and instances (I can no way express how...
Maybe scientists could segregate sick deer and elk from the general population, thus preventing an ungulate holocaust, and historians - claiming the tactic worked - could be doubted by red hat wearing web surfers.
All depends on whachya' believe.
