6.5 Crredmoor or 7-08?
I just bought a Howa Alpine in 6.5 Creedmoor but honestly I would be happy with either cartridge. I just had been wanting to try 6.5 CM since I first heard about the cartridge and the opportunity knocked. So, basically I am no help here I think either would serve you well. -

It is true that longer barrels can produce more velocity, however every cartridge has a point of diminishing returns and a 7mm-08 performs very well out of a 22" barrel. In practical hunting situations you will never miss that 60-100 fps you might gain. If you run ballistics of your cartridge... -

In that price point I just recently saw a CDNN flyer that had Browning Abolts with a Nikon scope right in there and a couple a little cheaper. I think the sale ends the 31st. They also have Ruger American Rifles in 270 for $389.00 with no scope. Most Savages I have known were decent shooters but...
