I'm glad you chimed in on this because it is an odd system for non-res on mule deer. Because they don't give any odds or results on the stamps I could never tell how hard or easy it is to get one. I do have to say there are some smokin good whitetail out west too depending on unit.
Yes we have a point system but it's kind of a two tier system for Mule deer for non-res. We have a non-res whitetail draw and you also have to draw a Mule deer stamp. There are quotas of stamps allowed per unit. The regular tag is $442.50 the mule deer stamp is another $152.50 and a preference...
I am going to echo the Federal Fusion suggestions. I roll my own but have a few loaners and have found for economy and performance the Fusions are real hard to beat. So buy a box and see how they run in your rig.
Well, what can I say Big Fins influence made me do it.
I don't often do this but a little present to myself in the form of a Howa Alpine 6.5 Creedmoor for being such a good boy this year.
I almost didn't come down here, given we only had three full days left. But I knew this winter, when I'm recouped and dreaming of hunting, I'd regret at least not giving it a try.
Ain't that the truth, good luck!

I put on my tree stand safety harness because it distributes...
John I pray for peace in your soul and I am so grateful for heroes like you and Izzy and the sacrifices you have made for our country. I will pray for Izzy and his family and will honor his ultimate sacrifice.
I have always felt opposition to the use of lighted nocks is not only illogical but ignorant as well. The lighted nocks do not activate until they have left the control of the archer and their true function of making recovery of an animal the benefit they provide should be the goal of any...
kansasdad; Now could you do anything to make my big boy night loving buck make an appearance during legal??
Been a lot of that this year, our warm November saved a lot of bucks lives. Hopefully this cold snap will break that cycle and he will show up in daylight.
As a Ks resident I am able to get an either species tag about every other year so I will hunt Whitetail in SE Kansas one year and then Mule deer in NW Kansas the next.
I have a small amount of private land to hunt but like to explore the WIHA (walk in hunt areas). I had started scouting that...
Texas Lake just west of Pratt straight south on 281, get there early. A little further back east would be McPherson wet lands as before get there early.
The looks of blued steel and wood is hard to beat but the performance in nasty weather certainly bodes well for stainless and synthetic. With coatings like cerakote you can get that same nasty weather protection in about any look you like.
While this doesn't apply to most hunting rifles I can...
