I carry too much stuff. Paracord, 1/4” braided nylon rope, 1/4” poly rope, and the usual emergency gear. But, something I think that could be as important as most equipment.....a roll of electrical tape. From taping the muzzle, piecing together a broken stock, can use with splint for a broken...
Weather updated today, must have been “fake news” a few days ago. Now they’re predicting lows of -15, and highs in low single digits! It seems as though most weather reports, would probably miss on night and day predictions! memtb
I know of a guy that shot “his own” Buckskin horse! Lots of orange and hoping that hunters are sure of their target. Never mind......just lots of orange! The second part of my comment was delusional! memtb
Yep.....unbelievable! We’re about 37 degrees warmer than usual.....it’s 37 degrees! ;) But.....”good news”in the long range forecast, with a potential high next Wednesday of -15 F! Now that’s more like it! o_O memtb
Welcome aboard J! A very good forum for those, like yourself, where hunting is an important part of their life. There are many stories and much info shared on a daily basis. Looking forward to your contributions. memtb
Well, if we’re going to get political.....anytime you comprise, you lose ground! The Founding Fathers wouldn’t recognize our Republic as it is today, certainly “not” as it was designed! The right has compromised and given to the left since Woodrow Wilson! It’s time to start making the leftest...
I think that the LRX will expand at a lower velocity than does the TTSX and the TSX. I believe that the LRX is listed as 1600 fps, though I may be incorrect! memtb
Sometimes it’s the hunter.....sometimes the animal “jumps the string”! Whitetails are notorious for that, especially if “not” using a bow with very fast arrow speed! memtb
Brian, my first buck Antelope was taken with an open sighted, Smith 629, at about 110 yards. An embarrassingly small buck, which I badly misjudged at daybreak! I was so “pissed”, I shoulder mounted the “dink” anyway! I’m truly “snakebit” with “goats”......but that one was the worst! memtb
We just gave away one this past summer, identical to that. Though, the bottom of ours was a little rough. Keep the cooler, add some memories of you own to it! memtb
As I’ve been handloading for 52 years, I’ve had several “ooops” moments. Perhaps the worst, was when I was about 18. I had been handloading for 4 years (Lee Loader) but had just recently bought a bunch of used loading equipment. I had no assistance from anyone experienced in handloadiing, and...
I certainly wouldn’t call carrying “paranoia”! I’ve lost 4 personal friends (5 if you count the wife of one victim) to murder. All but one of these people were far north of 60 at the time of their murders. The other was putting himself through college (Seminary) to be a minister! None were...
I’ve shot handguns since I was around 13 years old, and did a short time in law enforcement, if he dropped the shotgun to draw and use his handgun on an attacking mountain lion....he was overcome by a case of “aggravated stupidity”! memtb
Jim, I’ve got a Lyman Manual (they used various bullets and powders) from the early ‘70’s, if I can find it! It may have some data on that bullet. If you don’t get any satisfactory info, contact me, and I’ll try and “dig-out” that old manual! memtb
