I've heard this too. Also was in Madison in April and went to q brewery. The Peanut butter beer and barley wine they had were good. I don't remember the name. It was not downtown. But up past downtown.
I've found they generally do everything in their power to try to get away. When I would pray weeds in college, we would have to tap them with a shovel repeatedly to get them to coil. Otherwise they were headed in the opposite direction.
I take alot of the "a wpg is" stuff with a grain of salt. Yes there's things that a true but a lot that aren't. You pay for genetics, ideally, and with that should come a sound mind. So many bad breedings out there. It's one of the "it" dogs right now so people are breeding that maybe shouldn't...
Tell them your story. Lead with it. There's a reason you want to hunt there. Your dad took you there and you want to take your son there. Probably a few, it was a dad or grandparents that let your dad on and may remember him. I like in person, but some may feel more comfortable with a phone call...
I always chuckle when I see these questions about where to find mule deer. The answer is everywhere. I wouldn't look in river bottoms but everywhere else....
Personally I like brushy cuts in open hills. Walk through and you'll kick out something.
The scheels in Reno is awesome too. I bought a ton of bass lures for pike fishing. Too many places in MT have walleye crank baits. Nothing that's stays shallow.
As far as I know non of the BLM is fenced up there. That section has always had a gate on that one corner. Going back say 15 years or so since I've been going up there.
