A few months ago I wrote an article about reloading with budget gear, then Gavin and I did a short video about it.
This link will take you to both the article, and the video. Might be helpful:

Helped a new hunter set up her wood-stocked Weatherby Camilla, a 308 Winchester. She found it easy to shoot and I was thoroughly impressed with the accuracy! While sighting it in she shot several 1" groups at 200 yards!
I hope your grand daughter's rifle shoots as well.

My son and I still use a "Model of 1917" 30-06 that was originally built for WWI.
Dad bought it surplus after WWII, and sporterized it. I updated it in the 1990's with a scope and a B&C stock.
My son has used it the past ten years or so and has taken two bear and at least a couple of buck deer...
Using Hodgdon's online Reloading Data Center I find IMR 4166 listed as an appropriate powder for several 223 loads, from 50 grains bullets all the way up to 90 grain bullets. I do not see it listed for 40 grain bullets. So, I'd use it for loads listed by Hodgdon.
For your other rifles, 6.5 CM...
Congrats! I'm pleased as all get out with a cow elk or doe anymore. No room for more antlers on the wall, but always room in the freezer for good meat. :)

Wow! I'm surprised that it didn't open up. I've used Bergers on 4 mule deer, and in each case the bullets opened/fragmented, dropping the deer instantly.
Three were with the 115 grain VLD from my 25-06 at over 3100 fps: 175, 230 and 400 yards.
This year I tried the Berger Elite Hunter, 180...
Great bullet! I've taken whitetail, mule deer, black bear, elk and pronghorn antelope with Nosler's 165 grain Ballistic Tip! I think it's become my all-around favorite hunting bullet.
Congrats on your antelope!

Bummer about the giant hit by a car there. Another fellow told me 18 bighorns had been hit by cars on 97A this year. Time to FIX that fence. Past time.
This fellow was well off the highway, up on Chelan Butte.
