Something to consider. All tikka t3 stocks are interchangeable. So I just purchased two tikka's for my son. We are sticking with deer, so I started on the lower end, but the same idea could apply to you. I bought a 223 and the .243 youth tikka. We have already shot 100's of rounds through that...
Great first post... interesting observation. I also went out hunting yesterday in Montana and only ran across 3 other hunting parties. One from California and two from Wisconsin. I expected to see a lot more people, but was really surprised to see the ones i did find were out of state parties.
I have been along for 6 buffalo hunts now.. they are extremely strong animals, and with their huge lung capacity they can take a fair amount of lead before they die. We have shot them with a .300 WSM and 45-70. I have seen them die instantly with a single shot to the neck (dumb luck), and I have...
I would strongly consider used. To make the process simple, buy from someone who has registered their item (or someone who can confirm, they never registered). Then Swarovksi will gladly transfer the warranty and ownership over to you (The seller simply makes a phone call to Swaro and notifies...
I purchased some demo b2's and compared them to some vortex razor hd 10x42's, and some swarovski el 10x42's and some maven b.1 10x42. Optically they were really really good..... but they are GIANT! If size and weight isn't a concern, i would highly recommend them, but try to handle a pair first...
Tikka makes a youth model 243. I just picked one up for my son. It is the older model t3, but they can also be found in the t3x. They come with the spacer to allow the stock to "grow with them". I own several other tikka rifles and I love everything about them. All my stocks are interchangeable...
Many of the big name tripods are all made in china. They can all typically be found for much cheaper on ebay or amazon by just buying generic or even buying a nicely used item.
Will the data on the landlock sections be made public? Potentially as an ONX layer? Seems like this would be a great resource for programs like Block Management - try to work to encourage the land owners adjacent to these areas. Also, as we e-scout sure would be nice if you had the layer to see...
ONxmaps has a prarie dog village overlay option. I believe it cost an additional $5. Haven't had a chance to try it out, but most ONX products have been extremely useful in my opinion.
Also plenty of state land out by Pompey's Pillar that holds plenty of whistle pigs!
I just sold a 15-45 viper hd yesterday. For the money it is not a bad option, however its biggest draw back would be its size and weight. I spent hours comparing it to the razor's and my eyes cannot see a difference in glass quality. I also have a swarovski sts 65, for comparison... yes there is...
I have used a Globalstar phone for many years, and have always been happy with it. Like most phone's, the techonogy is way better today than it was a few years back. I usually set mine up for a few months during our hunting season and then never worry about touching base with my family. My Dad...
I compared them both, and ended up with the leupold 3-15 with the firedot. To me, the leupold is a lot more scope and I could justify the extra money. The vortex LH has been on some closeout sales for about $600. Warranties from both companies are exceptional. Leupold doesn't warranty...
