I was lucky enough to be in the right place in the right time at daylight Sat. morning when these two bucks were facing off on a power line right of way. I saw the 1st buck come out of the woods on the right side at about 150 yds. with his ears laid back looking like he was about to kick butt...
Another vote for Arctic Shield Boot covers. I wear either 200 gram or 400 gram insulated boots, but don't put them on until I'm ready to leave for my stand then I try not to walk too fast and get over heated. I put on the arctic shield boot covers as soon and I get settled at the stand. This...
I often hunt here in NC in a similar situation. As has been said above I have found that if I'm going that far to my stand I carry in my outer layer (bibs and coat) and don't put them on until I get to the stand. I don't get sweaty and am a lot more comfortable for a cold morning sit. Also, I...
I hunted there in 2017 on a trip with my wife. After killing a buck we made a 3 day loop across the state through Pinedale, Jackson, Yellowstone, and Cody before heading home.
With a little effort you shouldn’t have trouble be successful unless you’re going to hold out for a record book class...
I inherited my Dad's first hunting rifle, a sporterized 1917 Enfield he bought used around 1950. In the early 1960s when the 300 Win. Magnum was introduced he had it rechambered for this round and afterwards killed several elk with it. I was planning on taking it as a backup rife on a Wyo elk...
I live about 30 miles south of Tarboro and hunt about 30 miles north of there. In late October it can still be pretty warm (up to 80) but the nights can be somewhat cool (50s-30s). Depending on the property you're hunting, rubber knee boots could be very useful. I always have some with me...
I hunted in this area every year from 1992 through 2001 when I was living in Colo. so any intel I might have is dated but I can tell you that if you want high and steep you can find it there. If you plan to pack in on foot you better be in shape and able to handle altitude. Also you better have...
No sale, just a shooting gear catalog that they send out periodically. The model name given is CX Pro 10x50 ramgefindiing binocular. Can't find it anywhere on their website.
I got a Cabelas shooting sports catalog a few days ago an it included a Cabelas brand 10x50 rangefinder binocular. I had never seen this before and I can't find it on their website.
Around here it really depends on the temperature. If its rainy but still relatively warm turkeys don’t seem to mind it much. As has been said previously they tend to frequent fields and open areas more. If its a cold rain with wind blowing out of the NE it tends to shut things down.
