    Solo hunting

Solo hunting in the cattails can be challenging. I've been lucky to be in the right place at the right time more often than not. Usually quick-stepping to get in front of the lab crashing path.

Anyone hunt upland birds with a backpack?

I hunt every weekday during the Montana season since I am retired. I hunt with a pack instead of vest for many reasons. I like Granite Gear Crown 60---60 liters and has lasted a decade of hunting. For pants, I hunt lots of wet cattails and like Grundens Commercial rain pants at $99. For a...

    Upland 2023

Goofy puppy look from this morning's hunt. This MT rooster flushed wild at 250 yards, flew a mile, then grazed out pasture, so he landed in a cattail patch before that grazed out pasture. We have had good success pinning rooster just before grazed out pastures this fall.

When to declare MT residency in transition from owning a home in another state and in MT?

When to declare MT residency in transition from owning a home in another state and in MT?

Thanks. From that document: No one factor will automatically determine residency and the order of appearance in the list below does not indicate a level of importance. Residency does not depend upon any one fact or combination of circumstances, but upon the whole, taken together, and the weight...

When to declare MT residency in transition from owning a home in another state and in MT?

That is for hunting/fishing license. My question is declaring residency for state income tax purposes. Do you get tired?

One aspect that I don't think has been mentioned in this thread is the physical fitness aspect. I will be 67 in April and I believe that my physical fitness would not be what it is today without passion for hunting. As a youngster, I don't think I would hump up the hills every morning in...
