    Knife sharpening

I really like the Lansky Sharpener and find I get perfect razor sharp edges using it. I have a friend who I did several kitchen knives for him. They had been done previously by him or someone else using a Worksharp of other belt sharpener. His experience was that the knives were sharper...

    What type of hunting knife?

Ruana can and will refurbish it for you if you contact them and send it in. Mike & Mark Hangus are still working hard keeping Ruana alive and well. You need to use those other Ruana's. I can hear them crying out to be used! Great knives! I have the Steelhead and the 5AD. Each of my son's...

    Calling Wolves

Face To Face In early December Collin who is a good friend of mine and I went out west of Huson up in the mountains to try and call in a coyote or a wolf. Out of the two animals we both were hoping that we might be lucky and have one or more wolves respond as we both wanted to take one. I...

    What type of hunting knife?

I prefer a fixed blade and a folding knife like a Buck 110. I carry both in my hunting pack. My fixed blade is a Ruana 5AD which has a 4" blade or my Ruana Steelhead which is a 3 1/2" blade. I find personally that a 3-4" blade is plenty of blade length. I don't mind the weight of a fixed and...

    They are Among Us!

I was in a sporting goods store with a friend where we live. He was looking to purchase a Harris bipod for his rifle. We walked up to the counter and asked the male clerk to look at the bipods. He set a large box filled with them up on the counter. One right on the top happened to be what...

First time refinishing a gun stock

Sure looks nice. I had the finish on my (now my sons) Model 600 done a few years ago by a local gunsmith that did a nice job also. I'm keeping the original bottom metal (plastic as it is) but I am going to replace it and put one of these on the rifle. Haven't decided which one yet. Really...

What was your first big game rifle, and do you still have it?

Remington Model 600 Centennial made in 1964. 6mm Remington 1020 of the Centennial models made. This was my first big-game rifle. Not sure of the number of antelope and deer I've taken with it, but it's a lot. Many years we could get 3 antelope tags. It now belongs to my son and he shot...

    Antelope...Lets See Them!!!

This is an old one from 1993, but a very special one to me. I shot this antelope while hunting on my grandfathers ranch near Roy Montana with my father. My grandfather LeRoy died in 1978 still ranching/farming the property that he loved.

    Rifle’s done… again

I think you did a really nice job on the build. It looks sharp and well thought out. I too don't care for the stock ammo carrier but it's not my rifle is it. I use IMR7828SSC with 140 gr. Accbonds and Partitions. The same load with each bullet and the Accubonds chronograph at 3186 fps...
