FWP: Hank's out Dustin Temple in

And in the case of the bighorns maybe it is better to let them all die and start over. Time will tell.

Perhaps the difference is I have my own personal money and livelihood on the line.

Feeding them antibiotics actually did work on one herd. Bighorn sheep were eating a domestic sheep feed and not succumbing to pneumonia. I’ll have to ask my biologist buddy which Mtn range. Letting them die and starting over goes against everything as a cattleman. In the end it may...

FWP: Hank's out Dustin Temple in

Matters not what is killing the sheep, they will do nothing. As per bio’s directive. Who knows, maybe he’s correct as to best course. I’ve been waiting on answers also, as the sheep my client killed was super thin and sick, and would not have live to see winter. I feel sorry for you.

FWP Approves First Prairie Dog Conservation Contract

Not the directors call. That falls on the head biologist. Montana has a strict policy of no feeding any species including sheep even if it might save the breaks herd. I do not agree with this policy. The director brought my suggestion of feeding the sheep antibiotics to try to save...

    Montana season structure proposal 2.0

I received a phone call from a NR yesterday who came to R6 to hunt mule deer, and he asked, “where can I find one? There were lots of deer in 2021, whats the deal?” I replied, call R6 headquarters and ask.

    Montana season structure proposal 2.0

This ^ Then try to account for the unaccountable, how many buck deer left 6&7 with doe tags or no tags at 2:30 in the morning.

Montana trying to be like Utah?

Most communist and asinine proposal I’ve heard for a while. Bad enough the private sector has to compete with wealthy NR buying land, but now it’s suggested that selling off state lands is acceptable? Driving down private property values. Perhaps only if already these parcels have a...

    FWP being systematically dismantled

I’d certainly be interested to know what and who is getting FWP assistance if the property isn’t open to public access. Feel free to PM me, cause nobody is supposed to get a dime if they aren’t allowing near unlimited access.

    FWP being systematically dismantled

As a rule if a ranch isn’t open for public access they get ZERO FWP dollars

    FWP being systematically dismantled

If I had my druthers there would be no doe tags period. Unfortunately I’m not king. Doe license sales are a non issue monetarily for FWP. The revenue generated amounts to very little. Bull and buck tags is where the money is at. Personally I’d like to see NR bull and buck tags cut...

    FWP being systematically dismantled

If you’re happy with the way things have been managed for the past 25 years then keep the same ppl in the same positions. If not then shake things up. What has FWP ever done, or can they do for habitat? That is a huge ask. I know, changing habitat isn’t easy or cheap, so perhaps the...

    Time to change FWP Director

People demand change, until there is change. Let’s just assume the guys in the “head shed” have a little more info than those in the peanut galley. Before I demand dismissal I’d like to see what positives come from change. I’ve certainly liked some of the changes this far, like no mule...

    FWP being systematically dismantled

It shouldn’t be about politics, it should be about OUR wildlife. Personally more has been done in the last 6 months to help our wildlife, to the point of near putting me in shock. The commission listening to the people on mule deer was a refreshing change for the good. If you don’t...

    FWP being systematically dismantled

Joe, If you’re a fan of the FWP regime of manage the same old way do the same old thing, expect different results, having biologists and regional heads look you in the eye and give their version of the truth, it’d explain a lot. In the past I’ve been basically told, by FWP...

Why is shed hunting so popular now?

My thoughts on the further torture of deer and elk during shedding Time? Going to have to impose a “season” for shed hunting on public land. Guys taking sleds out in late February/early March bumping already winter stressed bucks/bulls isn’t cool.

Montana Judge Says Landowners Don’t Have ‘Absolute Freedom’ to Kill Elk, and Allowing Public Hunting Doesn’t Infringe on Their Rights

I think objectives are low in places, not so in other places. Objectives should be for carry capacity on accessible land, to landowner tolerance on private.
