Been 2 years. 2022. I’ve hunted Montana since 2015 and this is the largest, or close to largest, mule deer I’ve seen on public land. 5 years old. Region 3.
Side note, this was on forest service that was accessed by BMA. That landowner pulled out of Block Management last year and this year...
My high school Alma mater in Ohio is now 12-0. They stream the games on YouTube and I watched them torch Ryan Day’s son last night from my home in MT. Video is surprisingly good, tech has come a long way in past decade. Hope they win it all. Sure is a change of pace from watching NFL and...
Can someone explain the theory how getting a speck of dust or dirt in a tip inhibits expansion? Or how a damaged tip can? My limited understanding tells me a projectile moving that fast should expand upon impact regardless. Very perplexing to me.
I ask because I had a similar experience with...
I commented on another thread asking GoHunt about this and never heard back. I was actually ready to switch to GoHunt this year as I thought it was a "smoother" app when I tried it 2 years ago. Some of the layers OnX had at the time weren't available on GoHunt. Looks like they have them now...
There is a BMA type 2 there just east of Toston. It’s part of that same 16 mile LLC, which used to be Turner Enterprises. The elk and deer don’t really use those BMA pieces as it’s the lower stuff. I’ve hunted it during archery once and I have hunted some private land around there but it’s...
Any plans to bring back the Explorer membership? In 2022 I had both GoHunt and OnX and decided to stick with OnX as the trail slope layer was not available on GoHunt at that time. However, I thought GoHunt was smoother both on desktop and my iPhone and appreciated the ease of moving my data...
I've been disappointed in the burns I *thought* would be primo elk habitat. Link would be helpful @ForkieShooter
Here is a picture of a 2021 fire taken this August 2024 and still looks like scorched earth/moon. Kinda depressing.
That's not over 100 pounds of meat unless you're counting the guts? Only critique I see is could have taken some more of the neck meat? I'm hit or miss if I take meat from the sides and ribs.
If the forest area you are hunting is open, it should be safe. At least around here when a fire gets going USFS will close a large area around it. Distance doesn’t really dictate smoke so much as wind. We live and I hunt 25-30 miles south of a large fire this summer. The wind was...
Just another snow flake in the snowball of hunting tech in the past 70 or so years. I've pretty much used it all if legal where I hunt, but am aware of it's impact and how we are degrading hunting experiences IMO. Always in the name of recovering more wounded game or more "ethical" hunting...
Should be illegal IMO. This tech is outta control. I can do the same with a drone, take a photo and then copy the geotag coordinates into OnX and it drops a pin. Can’t use drones to hunt same day as flying them, thankfully.
Another question with these liners are there snaps or zippers or is it just a big tube? Seems like might be difficult getting out to pee in middle of night?
Do people just sleep in their underwear? I always have clothes, (usually all my layers as I sleep cold) on but I guess some oil could be getting through clothes overtime?
