Stumbled upon this YouTube video about the mill closing. Maybe it was mentioned in this thread but turns out it's the mills inability to hire people based in large part of lack of affordable housing.
All this talk of ice cream takes me back to my youth on the dairy farm. We had brown swiss cows which produced higher cream content than other breeds like Holstein. Homemade ice cream with milk taken directly from the bulk tank was amazing.
Southern Illinois is being pounded right now. I heard the rain around midnight and still pouring at 9am. Luckily i'm a little north of the major rain. Looks to be a long day or two with what is coming.
How on earth could a kid with a rifle climb up on a building for a 150 yard or less shot. When I heard a "long shot" I was thinking 1000 yards or more.
Those are some crazy increases. Living in Illinois, i'm used to paying insane property taxes but have never had increases like that. The house my ex got in the divorce was a little over $10,000 a year in property taxes.
