    Leave the iron sights on as an option. Mount the scope with quick detach rings. That way if scope gets damaged or conditions too harsh, you can slip it off and put it in your pack.

    You can buy blued threaded plugs at most shooters supply outlets. They fit flush to your barrel. Try Brownells, Midway, or Midwest. Or any gunsmith will usually have a drawer full of plugs.

    Yes. 40V peroxide mixed to a paste with Clairol whitener and painted onto skulls hot out of the pot. Then wrapped in clear sandwich wrap and sit overnight. If it's summer, I may set the wrapped skull in the sun outside during the day. That works very well.

    We generally simmer deer skulls longer than that with no issues. Gave up on the beetles a couple years ago. Too hard keeping them going fighting with parasytic mites.
