I helped a guy out for sheep in area 5 about 13 years ago. At the end of August and early sept all the griz we seen were above timberline eating moths. Seen 8 at the same time on one mtn. Didnt see any sign of them down low.
See bambis post above, these saws are cheap, work better than anything, lay flat against the back of you pack and light weight. Cut horns off in a few minutes.
Cutting the horns off is the only use for a saw as far as butchering goes. All else can be done with a knife.
Congratulations, just got back from a hunting trip up there. The last minute ocean charter saved the trip so to speak! Definitely be doing it on a more regular basis.
I have used an enlightened equipment quilt for years, its a 10 degree but at 25 its damn cold even with your puffy gear on. Id say the 10 degree is comfortable to about 40 degrees. Its a nice quilt but i think their ratings are based on that you wont die at that temp cause it sure isnt that...
