As I get farther on the wrong side of 40, this seems like words to live by 🤣🤣
Used to watch boxing with my dad and grandpa. Then moved on to MMA. I’m watching…nostalgia for the baddest man in the planet. Also really looking forward to watching the women fight.
I expected waaaaaay worse.
From a work perspective, some of ND’s politicians have been aggressively anti-public lands, anti-conservation and anti-science-based management. In the grand scheme of things in our court, Bergum has been pretty reasonable to work with. I don’t hate this? Yet?
Free ranging elk don’t generally show prevalences as high as those observed in sympatric deer populations, for unknown reasons. Genetics? Biology? Ecology? Behavior? Who knows. However, captive elk and range restricted elk have shown very high prevalences (40% or more) are possible- Wind Cave...
So wait… fishing is so poor that almost no one can catch a limit of a native sport fish, yet things are hunky dorey and nothing should change?
If habitat is such an issue that natural reproduction of a native fish is unsustainable, it seems to me the state should have reduced limits long ago...
It’s interesting how we all convince ourselves we’re the only one that suffers through these things. Turns out just about everyone can identify with it in some way, shape or form. Glad you chose to take action, are on a positive trajectory, and are able to really appreciate that hunt and buck...
I don’t think I will ever get a chance at a sheep, so I love to read great sheep stories. Everything about the details in this one is awesome. Congratulations on checking so many of those long-awaited boxes.
Me either. 🤣 If I had better equipment we could actually do a count.
I think these birds are coming from a nearby WPA where they are roosting. Last Friday, we estimated 250,000 - 300,000 came off of that location to go feed, but we were kind of busy looking at some oil reclamation projects and...
Flight week again…views from the aerial office. This one is your Duck Stamp dollars at work - grassland and wetland conservation easements in the Missouri Coteau. It’s a little droughty out there.
That’s a mile long flock of snow geese on the ground. Couldn’t quite fit them all in.
Pre-made breakfast burritos. Wrapped in foil so just throw them on the grill or stove to heat.
Pre-made everything. When hunting season approaches, I will often throw a couple servings of leftover whatever dinner I made that night into vacuum sealed bags and freeze them to take camping...
Over the years we’ve done a bunch of our own, and I’ve done a bunch of various dead heads for work. I’ve noticed that the ones that either had some kind of head trauma (vehicle collisions and such) or ones that get very “ripe” before I get to them tend to have a higher likelihood of turning...
Bought my husband an Ororo a couple of years ago. He loves it. He wears it a lot, even when he’s not using the heating. Nice looking vest. He really likes it for working in the wood shop in the winter.
I thought the length of time for the auction to be open was about right. Not so long that people lose interest, get busy, or forget about it. Short enough to maintain excitement and enthusiasm. I agree having it outside of hunting season might mean more people available to participate.
I...
Terrible, terrible phone zoom photo, but I don’t get to see these every day. Watching this pair of whooping cranes as I type. Haven’t seen any in about 4 years.
This was a much more orderly affair than I expected. @Sytes you were a masterful auctioneer. Thanks everyone for diligent adherence to rules. That really helped make this a huge success.
If it didn’t take years off of @Sytes life, maybe we should have an annual charity auction to some noble...
