Deer with large tumors

I've seen baseball sized lumps under the hide but never anything like that. Some of the lumps would burst or drain and there would be a wet spot next time the deer came around.

My guess is warts-papilloma virus induced typically. Would definitely be an atypical presentation as most are smaller.

I’ve seen growth like the one by the head, except it was more at neck/shoulder area and on a doe.

It made me concerned about harvesting deer in the area…. Still, my wife and i took two bucks from that property that year without any sign of abnormalities, thankfully

An infrequent occurrence. I saw one like that and asked a local known wildlife biologist, he explained what it was. I think you can google it and find the answer. He told me not to waste my tag on it just to bring it in for sampling.

It's for sure not an eater to me... I have seen pictures of deer like this before, but never in person.

I have seen two different bucks with growths. One looked like a men's sock hanging from below his ear. The other had several wart looking growths about the size of grapefruit hang ing from his hind quarters. Poor guys !
