Planning for an Eastern Montana mule deer hunt

Heavy sigh. As a responsible sportsman from Wisconsin, I am mortified by some of the crap that is spewed by people from my state. @MThunter398, I get you. You are spot on. If you are stuck in the gumbo, I sure will stop to help pull you out and you will be offered a cold beer if you stop by my...

    Colorado pref point elk question

I tried to do exactly that when I applied for the 2022 elk draw but the system would not let me do it. Might have been "user error" but that's OK because I want the tag more than the Preference point. Let us know if you are successful at doing that.

    Eastern plant ID

    # 1 does look like ramps. #2 is dutchman's breeches #3 might be blood root. Looks like a pleasant day to be out exploring!

Good tent for 3rd season elk CO

Thanks for sharing your insights. Much appreciated! Looks like I'll go with the external poles and upgrade to a larger stove. Serving plenty of beverages to your hunting partner in the evening is truly a "pro tip". Good stuff.

Good tent for 3rd season elk CO

This is very helpful information. I am also planning to buy a Davis tent for the 2022 season and I usually hunt solo. Camping next to the truck, my concern is setting up the tent by myself. Traditional poles or internal frame? Solo setup 10 by 12 vs 12 by 14? Your thoughts?

    Sunday Pic of the Day

These are fantastic specimens. Wow! As a fossil enthusiast this is an unbelievable find. Do you hunt for these fossils deliberately or incidental to other hunting?

Hooked into this gator last night

That gator rug is fantastic! Well done. Can you fill in some details about your gear and technique? Full disclosure: I have no idea about how alligator hunting (fishing?) is done but it is on my bucket list.

    Poison Ivy

Sorry that happened to you. I am also highly sensitive to poison ivy so I can empathize with your plight. Here in Wisconsin poison ivy is everywhere and my coping mechanism is to be very good at looking for poison ivy and avoiding exposure. You will get very good at these skills as well. There...
