Sighting in a 7mm-08 for the first time
Your absolute minimum distance for sighting in would be 50 yds. Ballistically speaking, that should be very close to a 200yd zero, but would still need confirmed at range. A 25yd zero would net you a 300yd zero, again to be confirmed at range. As to your original question, 8 rds is not... -

What's your thread size, and your barrel OD at the shoulder? Did you check for clearance with an alignment rod? -

Which caliber?
6.5 PRC is a good all around cartridge. It's got mild recoil and is inherently accurate. I think it will have better longevity than the 6.8W. -
Ruger No. 3 quarter rib
Got the 1st No.1 version done and mounted. I mounted a 6-24x56 on there for test fire. Plenty of adjustment for eye relief. -

I shot it enough to sight it in before it goes back to its owner. It was MOA with 165gr Fusions. They're not my favorite lever, but they all seem to shoot well. -

Bergers and Sierras should be the easiest to get groups with. Did they give you a velocity for the ELD's? -

They're comfortable and light, the folding stock option is nice. Long action takes CIP length magazines. You'll have to use the spacers if you have a normal LOP. -
Peep sight trouble
It helps if your aperture is sized so that the inner circle of your front globe "touches" the whole way around. You may be better off with a fiber front since you're used to archery sights already too.- p_ham
