Find some trustworthy friends or neighbors or just some good ole boys who like hunting hogs and just let them have at it. That method won't break the bank and you might even get some free pork out of the deal.
https://sierradesigns.com/cloud-800-20-degree/ This bag is great. It's kind of a hybrid bag/quilt and works great for camping in freezing temps. Another option could be to get a higher temp rating bag and add a bag liner to save money and weight while keeping you warm on cold nights.
Do this. Everyone has different eyes. My eyes told me the best bang for my buck was with the Vortex Vipers. This will also give you an opportunity to see how lower end models compare to higher end models and may convince you to hold off until you can spend a little more.
Thanks for clearing it all up for us. I could’ve done a better job explaining. I’m not quite that insane, but I’m sure I’ve done dumber things in my life.
I'm looking to do a hiking trip this summer with some buddies and I was scouting on onX and Google to find some fun, less traveled trails. I came across Lost Lake trail in between Silverthorne and Heeney. It looks like a pretty easy hike and I wanted to make it a little more adventurous by...
Welcome From TX! I'm going to be visiting GA for a few weeks during deer season and was looking at the quotas out there. Can you really tag up to 12 deer in one season? Or am I reading it wrong?
I've always been a huge Turnpike fan since they came on the scene several years back. A band I've been digging lately that is kind of a mix between Turnpike and Old Crow Medicine Show would be Flatland Cavalry. If your more into story songs check out James McMurtry
I've rucked many miles with one of those on and it is an ok system. It's a bit heavier than other hunting packs and not as comfortable, but it would work.
I have a pair of Lowa Renegades. They are very comfortable boots and offer some ankle support. They are very easy to break in and the suede leather is easy to clean and re-waterproof. I only wear them when hiking trails or off the road. I bought them at REI and the sales guy told me to make sure...
Man, were you guys right. No matter how much online research you do it can not prepare you for actually being there and hiking in those mountains. I had a blast on this trip and find myself daydreaming about the endless views Idaho provided.
The weather was just about perfect as far as comfort...
I'm a big fan of the Viper line Vortex offers. They are worth the extra cash in my opinion. I couldn't justify the price increase for the Razors because the clarity and color weren't much better than the Viper (in my eyes). Having said that, they are not as good as some of the other brands...
Forgive me if I am wrong, but isn't the turret the scope comes with NIB an MOA turret? Each click 1/4 MOA. I currently have a trajectory chart for the turret it comes with out to 300 yards and I have verified the clicks get me hitting my target, but isn't the custom dial supposed to simplify it...
I got my new Leupold VX5-HD a couple months ago and have it sighted in tight at 100 yards. It's sitting atop a Ruger American Predator in 6.5CM. I've tried some of the more expensive ammo from Nosler, Hornady, Sierra, and Federal in different weights, but I have found the best groups I get are...
I have the Vortex Ranger 1300 and I love it. I have got it to range consistently out to just over 1K yards which is plenty enough for me. I'm sure in the right conditions it could go to 1300. I really like the illuminated reticle. It makes it much easier to acquire targets.
