I value resource management over protecting basically one outfitter. I am all in favor of making Gardiner a limited special permit. With 75 permits I would enjoy hunting there. The way it is now with it being unlimited first choice it completely caters to the nonresident guided hunter.
Congratulations. I am hunting west of you in 314 and am trying to refine my judging and even gender skills. would you be willing to share the particulars on that goat? sex, length, age?
Thank you and again congratulations.

Sounds like a good hunt and a nice goat Congratulations. Nice write up.
Goats are really difficult for me to judge and tell apart. I shot a goat 19 years ago that disappeared in a wash. A minute later 2 billies that looked just like him appeared that I had no idea where there. I frantically...
Wow, that is an incredible goat. Taking him with a bow is an astonishing feat. I have the same permit and will be down this weekend scouting with a plan to try for a goat with my bow on the weekend of the 19th and than start packing my rifle on the 26th.
Congratulations
I pack a Swarovski 65mm with 20-60 eyepiece. I generally only pack Swaro SLC 10x42 for bow season. I went through a few lessor scopes both in weight and price prior to getting this one and can't imagine anything less now.
I bumped into the outfitter in 300 over the weekend. they were still looking. I did see a fair number of sheep but nothing I could determine to be legal. I was scouting for goats. Good Luck to all that are giving it a go.
Rat Fink did you fill your Goat permit? it sounds like there may be a...
Drake, that is about he best picture I have of him. he was down low near the creek about 1 mile from the trailhead and I wanted to make it up to the ridge and glass some basins on the other side so I didn't spend any time getting closer. Is your Dad starting to get excited for his tag yet?
I am definitely still looking for bigger and not hoping to notch my tag until at least the last week of September. Attached are a couple more pics of the same goats, the first pic is the same as the 2nd pic of previous post and the second pic is the same goat as the 3rd pic. I am pretty sure...
Yeah sorry for the lessor quality pics. I was holding a point and shoot camera up to my spotting scope. But even in person it is hard to see the top half of the horns on a lot of goats since they blend in with the rocks.
I have spent 6 days scouting my unit and practicing field judging goats. I want to know what some of the goat experts think about these 3? Thanks for the help.
